The women of Red Velvet have completed their celebratory EP trilogy of 2019 with the release of ‘The ReVe Festival’ Finale album on Monday (Dec. 23). Fronted by the haunting single “Psycho,” Finale brings the act’s fifth year to a close with a glitzy way through its glam music video.
Ringing in the 2020s with a modern take on the elegant, yet festive, flair of flappers with lace and feather looks, “Psycho” sees the five members of Red Velvet captivatingly singing (and dancing) about how they’re in a relationship full of ups and downs. Smooth and sultry in its delivery, the song is ushered along by the harmonious voices of the women, who spend the song’s length questioning their love. The track ends with the chanting, sing-song affirmation of “we’ll be alright.”

An example of the act’s “velvet” side, which showcases their R&B leanings, in comparison to the bright “Red” of “Zimzalabim” and “Umpah Umpah,” both of which were prior Reve Festival singles, “Psycho” elements like trap beats, squelching synths, and falsetto pre-chorus builds help create a slightly off-kilter element to the song, reflecting the emotions described in “Psycho.”
The song is one of four new tracks featured on ‘The ReVe Festival’ Finale, a compilation album for the series. Along with “Psycho,” Red Velvet graced the world with the creeping synth-pop standout track “In & Out,” the sweet R&B ballad “Remember Forever,” and the jazzy showtune “La Rouge.”
Following its release, several trends associated with “Psycho” trended worldwide on Twitter as fans expressed excitement over the latest release from Red Velvet.
