German Marquez COL SP
Rockies' German Marquez: Set for two more rehab starts
1h agoManager Bud Black said Wednesday that Marquez (elbow) will make two more rehab starts with Double-A Hartford, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
Marquez struggled heavily in his latest rehab outing at Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, allowing four earned runs in just two-thirds of an inning and throwing just 33 pitches. The 29-year-old righty was originally slated for just one additional start after Friday, but his abbreviated appearance will cause the Rockies to add another game to his rehab stint, ruling him out for a return to Colorado before the All-Star break. Since restarting his assignment June 12, Marquez has allowed eight earned runs in 8.2 innings while striking out 13 batters and walking three.

7h agoWade went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 5-3 win over Atlanta.
Wade has gone 3-for-13 (.231) with two walks over three games since he returned from missing a month with a hamstring injury. The 30-year-old had been hitting atop the order prior to the injury, but the Giants have had him in the No. 2 spot with Jorge Soler at leadoff recently. Wade has just three homers over 55 games this year, but he's maintained a .324/.459/.437 slash line with 18 RBI, 24 runs scored and a stolen base. Padres' Xander Bogaerts: On verge of rehab assignment
6h agoBogaerts (shoulder) could begin a rehab assignment within the next day or two, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union Tribune reports.
Bogaerts had a CT scan of his left shoulder Monday, the results of which indicated that he is ready to resume playing. Acee indicates that the infielder will likely head out on a rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso in the coming days, and team officials have previously suggested that a rehab stint would last 7 to 10 days. Though manager Mike Shildt recently said that there is no timeline for Bogaerts' activation from the injured list, if all goes well moving forward, he could rejoin the Padres for their home series against Atlanta that begins July 12.
-
Jonathan Ornelas TEX 2B

Josh Jung TEX 3B
Rangers' Josh Jung: Out through All-Star break
2h agoRangers manager Bruce Bochy said Wednesday that Jung will be shut down until next week to allow his right wrist to rest, and the third baseman will not return until after the All-Star break, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.
Jung had his swing test Saturday cancelled due to soreness in his right wrist. While a specialist confirmed that there is no structural damage, the lingering pain has kept Jung from swinging a bat since June 20. The hope for Jung is that the extended rest will allow the pain in his wrist to subside long enough to resume swinging a bat before ramping up through a rehab assignment. The 26-year-old appeared in just four games at the beginning of the season before sustaining a fractured right wrist due to being hit by a pitch in early April.
-

The 27-year-old has spent all season with Nashville, slashing .242/.331/.345 with 25 RBI over 302 plate appearances. Andruw Monasterio will likely start most days while Ortiz is out, but Capra may see some playing time against left-handed pitchers in place of the lefty-hitting Brice Turang.
-
Joseph Ortiz MIL 3B
Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Hits injured list
3h agoThe Brewers placed Ortiz on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with neck inflammation, retroactive to Tuesday.
Neck problems have caused Ortiz to be in and out of the Brewers' lineup over the past week, and he'll now officially be shut down in order to properly address the issue. Vinny Capra was recalled from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move, but Andruw Monasterio has been seeing regular time at third base when Ortiz sits and should continue to do so going forward.
-
Royce Lewis MIN 3B
Twins' Royce Lewis: Lands on IL with adductor strain
3h agoThe Twins placed Lewis on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right adductor strain.
The 25-year-old was removed from Tuesday's game against the Detroit due to left groin tightness, but it's now being reported as a right adductor injury. According to Dan Hayes of The Athletic, Lewis is dealing with a Grade 2 strain and will be sidelined through the All-Star break before being reevaluated. Even in a best-case scenario, he'll likely miss some time beyond that while building back up to game readiness. Prospect Brooks Lee was called up in a corresponding move and should take over as Minnesota's primary third baseman while Lewis is out.
-

Corey Seager TEX SS
Rangers' Corey Seager: Progressing, could play Wednesday
2h agoRangers manager Bruce Bochy said Seager (wrist) is feeling "a lot better" and will talk with the shortstop to see if he's doing well enough to play Wednesday against the Padres, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
The 30-year-old is currently absent from Texas' starting nine for Wednesday's contest, but there's apparently a chance he's a late addition to the lineup. Regardless of whether or not Seager ends up starting the game, it's an encouraging development for his availability going forward.

-
German Marquez COL SP
-
Cody Bradford TEX SP
Rangers' Cody Bradford: Likely returning in relief
2h agoRangers manager Bruce Bochy said Wednesday that Bradford (rib/back) has resumed throwing off a mound, and the left-hander is likely to fill a relief role once back from the injured list, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
The 26-year-old was dominant in three starts for Texas with a 1.40 ERA, 0.62 WHIP and 17:2 K:BB before he suffered a lower-back strain and a stress fracture in his rib, but he's not expected to rejoin the rotation once healthy. Max Scherzer is finally healthy after missing nearly the first three months of 2024, and Tyler Mahle (elbow) is also moving toward his season debut. Bradford's buildup and rehab assignment should be shorter since he's coming back as a reliever, but the Rangers are likely still looking for him to cover multiple innings and be an option for spot starts.
-
Cristian Mena ARI SP
Diamondbacks' Cristian Mena: Recalled ahead of start Wednesday
2h agoThe Diamondbacks recalled Mena from Triple-A Reno on Wednesday.
Mena was in the Diamondbacks' clubhouse Tuesday, and manager Torey Lovullo noted that the right-hander, if officially called up, would deserve the opportunity to start Wednesday, per PHNX Diamondbacks. Mena was part of the package acquired by the Diamondbacks from the White Sox in the Dominic Fletcher trade in February. Mena has spent the entire year in Reno, and over his 16 minor-league starts, the 21-year-old is 3-2 with a 4.90 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 89:38 K:BB over 82.2 innings. He will make his major-league debut Wednesday on the road against the Dodgers.
-
Yoshinobu Yamamoto LAD SP
Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Described as pain-free
4h agoYamamoto is no longer feeling pain in his right shoulder, but he hasn't yet started throwing, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Yamamoto was diagnosed with a right rotator cuff strain two days after being able to complete only two innings in his most recent start June 15. While the rookie right-hander is now pain-free, he isn't yet throwing, and manager Dave Roberts indicated that there's no clear timeframe for when the hurler will pick up a ball again. The organization figures to be cautious with Yamamoto, and he almost certainly won't return to action until after the All-Star break.
-
Clayton Kershaw LAD SP
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Set for bullpen session
4h agoKershaw (shoulder) is expected to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Kershaw was shut down from throwing last week after feeling soreness in his left shoulder following a rehab start June 19, but a subsequent MRI didn't reveal any damage, and he returned to throwing Tuesday. If his bullpen Wednesday goes well, the left-hander could resume his rehab assignment in short order. The shutdown isn't expected to make much of an impact on Kershaw's overall timeline to return to the Dodgers, though that isn't likely to happen until after the All-Star break.
-
Valente Bellozo MIA SP
Marlins' Valente Bellozo: Optioned to Triple-A
5h agoThe Marlins optioned Bellozo to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday.
Bellozo made two starts for the Marlins, permitting five runs with a 10:1 K:BB over 10 innings of work. His turn in the rotation will come up Sunday and it's not clear at this point who Miami intends to use to fill that slot.
-
Yency Almonte CHC RP
Cubs' Yency Almonte: Shut down from throwing
2h agoAlmonte will be shut down from throwing after receiving a second opinion on his right shoulder strain Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Manager Craig Counsell noted Wednesday that Almonte "didn't get great news" during his second opinion, and the right-hander will decide whether to resume rehab through a strengthening program or undergo surgery for his strained right shoulder, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports. Before landing on the injured list in May, Almonte registered six holds and one save over 17 outings with a 3.45 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 20:8 K:BB across 15.2 innings. He was transferred to the 60-day injured list June 27, and the 30-year-old could be on the shelf for the rest of the season if he opts for surgery.
-
Gavin Hollowell ARI RP
Diamondbacks' Gavin Hollowell: Sent back to Reno
2h agoThe Diamondbacks optioned Hollowell to Triple-A Reno on Wednesday.

2h agoThe Brewers recalled Junk from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.
Since his last appearance in the majors May 5, Junk has posted a 1.17 ERA and 1.24 WHIP alongside a 19:5 K:BB across 15.1 innings in Triple-A. He'll now be called upon to add depth to Milwaukee's bullpen as Enoli Paredes (forearm) heads to the injured list.
-
Enoli Paredes MIL RP
Brewers' Enoli Paredes: Lands on injured list
2h agoThe Brewers placed Paredes on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with right forearm tendinitis.
Paredes has been effective in middle relief for the Brewers this season, posting a 1.08 ERA in 16.2 innings. However, he allowed a hit and two walks in just one-third of an inning during his latest outing Tuesday and appears to have come away from the appearance with an injury. As a result, he'll now be forced to sit out at least through the All-Star break. Janson Junk will come up from Triple-A Nashville to fill the opening in Milwaukee's bullpen.
-
Brock Stewart MIN RP
Twins' Brock Stewart: Shifts to 60-day IL
3h agoThe Twins transferred Stewart (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Wednesday.
The right-hander has been on the shelf with shoulder tendinitis since early May, so the move to the 60-day IL won't affect his return timeline. Stewart has progressed to facing live batters this week and could soon begin a rehab assignment.
-
Yimi Garcia TOR RP
Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia: Requires rehab stint
3h agoGarcia (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday and will need at least one minor-league rehab appearance before being activated, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
If all goes well, Garcia would be sent out for a rehab assignment following Wednesday's bullpen session. While it's unclear exactly how many appearances he'll need in the minors, manager John Schneider indicated Garcia would need more than one outing before rejoining the active roster. Once he's healthy, Garcia could take over closing duties considering Jordan Romano (elbow) will be shut down from throwing for at least six weeks.

Steward Berroa was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to take Turner's spot on the 26-man roster.
-
J.D. Martinez NYM DH
Mets' J.D. Martinez: Rejoining lineup Wednesday
3h agoMartinez (ankle) will be in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
