David Tennant is having a busy 2023. Not only is Good Omens back on our screens, but his Doctor Who return is also due in a few months and he's filming another new series with The Inbetweeners' Emily Atack.

Rivals is an adaptation of the Jilly Cooper novel of the same name, part of her steamy upper-class series the Rutshire Chronicles.

This particular novel, and TV show, takes place in the 1980s, with Atack playing wealthy socialite Sarah Stratton.

The cast was photographed in Bristol filming the red carpet scene, with Atack's character Sarah wearing a bold gold leaf-themed outfit, with some very '80s hair, while Tennant and Motherland's Oliver Chris were in more typical suits.

The show has assembled quite the starry cast beyond these three, with Poldark's Aidan Turner, EastEnders' Danny Dyer, Humans' Katherine Parkinson, Cowboy Bebop's Alex Hassell, Skins' Luke Pasqualino, Camping's Rufus Jones, and Once Upon a Time's Victoria Smurfit among the ensemble.

Set in the fictional county of Rutshire, the series will chronicle the rivalry between two powerful men: Rupert Campbell-Black (Hassell) and Lord Tony Baddingham (Tennant), with their battlefield being a local television station.

Of course, there's plenty of adultery and oh-so-scandalous instances of bed-hopping. We'd expect nothing less from a Jilly Cooper joint.

"I'm utterly enchanted to be able to announce our all-star line-up for Rivals," the author previously said.

"Featuring some of the best acting talent that the British Isles has to offer, I couldn't have dreamed of a better ensemble cast. I cannot wait to be on set and see them bring the characters I love so much to life.

"The minute we met with Alex, we knew he'd perfectly embody my all-time hero, the iconic, racy, ruthless, and devastatingly handsome, Rupert Campbell-Black. Viewers are in for a treat!"

The Rivals will be coming to Disney+ at an unknown time.
