Meet actress who faced 1000 rejections, was treated unfairly due to dark skin, went viral for lip-lock with superstar

There has always been a big debate in the film industry around nepotism. Many actors and actresses, over the years, have experienced firsthand how difficult it is for an outsider to gain meaningful access to Bollywood. But, despite these challenges, some actors and actresses have found their way to success and are now thriving in the film circle. Today, we will tell you about an actress who gave over 1000 auditions before she made it big and faced several rejections.

We are talking about none other than Sobhita Dhulipala who began her career as a model in the early 2010s. She was a finalist in the 2013 Miss India pageant and that became her biggest claim to fame at the time. Speaking about the time when she faced innumerable rejections, Sobhita Dhulipala said, "I was not connected to the film world. My only entry point was through auditions. And after my senior year, I was modeling for a bit. As a model, you also do auditions for ads...But I gave myself three years, and I auditioned. I must have done 1,000 auditions in my life." 

Sobhita Dhulipala is perceived as a bold and outspoken actress in Bollywood. She has made a name for herself in the industry in a very short time and has worked with many actors such as Anil Kapoor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Vicky Kaushal. She is also one of the highest-paid OTT stars. Her recent appearances in 'Made in Heaven', 'Ponniyin Selvan: I', 'Ponniyin Selvan: II', and 'The Night Manager' were also appreciated by the audiences. 

However, there was a time when Sobhita Dhulipala was rejected because of the colour of her skin. "When you first start, everything is a battle. I'm not from the movies. I recall being told numerous times during my ad auditions that I am not 'gori' enough. I was told directly to my face that I am not pretty enough, similar to how you see in advertisements," she once said in an interview. 

For the unversed, Sobhita Dhulipala made her debut in the film industry with 'Anurag Kashyap’s Raman Raghav 2.0'. Her breakthrough role came when 'Made in Heaven' was released. One of Sobhita Dhulipala's most memorable appearances to date is Disney Plus Hotstar's web series 'The Night Manager' in which she was seen opposite Anil Kapoor. Her chemistry and kissing scenes with Anil Kapoor in this series are viral to this date. 

Sobhita Dhulipala, despite initial struggles, is now cementing herself as an actor to be reckoned with in the industry. This year, the actress also made her Hollywood debut in Dev Patel’s directorial debut 'Monkey Man'.
