: Ensemble Resonanz: Beethoven’s »Eroica«
Riccardo Minasi conducts the Ensemble Resonanz through Beethoven’s 3rd Symphony, »The Heroic« – the bold soundtrack of European ideals of democracy and freedom. The concert will be followed by a discussion about Europe and the limits of the concert format

: Reflektor Marc Ribot
Stylistically broad and yet unmistakable: Marc Ribot’s guitar playing is unique. Jazz, rock, noise and always a bit of a protest mood have brought him together with many stars. At the Elbphilharmonie, he will be presenting his versatile band projects.

: Mozart: Requiem
The famous Mass for the Dead by W.A. Mozart is one of the most moving works in music history. With the Baltasar Neumann Choir & Orchestra under its chief conductor Thomas Hengelbrock as well as top soloists, it is performed in beautiful original sound.

: Nutcracker Reimagined
Tchaikovsky’s »Nutcracker« ballet is as much a part of Christmas as the biscuits. Conductor Kristjan Järvi has rearranged the famous music and presents it with the young, highly talented Baltic Sea Philharmonic. In addition, there is Grieg and Sibelius.

: Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra
First she made a career in tennis, now she is a highly successful conductor: Marie Jacquot is causing a stir in the classical music world. She is coming to the Elbphilharmonie with an American programme, sparklingly lively and inspired by jazz.

: Honegger: Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher
French Oscar winner Marion Cottilard, a true Hollywood star, lends her voice to the Maid of Orléans in Honegger's dramatic oratorio. The music is provided by Alain Altinoglu and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony.

: Viva Napoli
For centuries now, Naples has been a cultural melting pot that produced an enormous breadth of sensational music. The programme ranges from courtly dances dating back to the Middle Ages to singer Vinicio Capossela.

: Rising Stars
Firmly positioned in the starting blocks for global careers ahead: six exceptional young musicians, selected by Europe’s major concert halls, perform at the Elbphilharmonie within the space of a week.

: Amadeus, Amadeus
For an entire week, an illustrious line-up of artists honours the gigantic oeuvre of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Kit Armstrong goes on an »Expedition Mozart«, Mitsuko Uchida performs a piano concerto and René Jacobs conducts the opera »Idomeneo«.

: Visions
This splendid festival celebrating new music is entering its second round. Over the course of seven concerts, festival initiator Alan Gilbert and the outstanding radio orchestras perform 21st century music spanning the entire stylistic spectrum.

: Vinci: Oratorio per la Madonna del Rosario
This will be a historic moment: For the first time since it was written in the 17th century, this oratorio will be performed again. Vinci’s operas are regarded as true baroque fireworks – and this one will be no different. And in the best original sound!

: Symphoniker Hamburg / Josef Špaček
This concert oscillates sonorously between the Elbe and the Vltava, Hamburg and Prague. The Tragic Overture by Brahms from Hamburg meets music by Dvořák and Martinů from Prague. Czech violinist Josef Špaček shines on the solo violin.

: Fabian Müller / Piano Recital
Fabian Müller, who has enjoyed a truly stellar career in recent years, will perform in the »Master Pianists« series. For the solo recital in the Laeiszhalle, he presents Beethoven’s great »Waldstein Sonata« and the youthful 3rd Sonata by Brahms.

What a top concert: exceptional violinist Renaud Capuçon plays Mendelssohn’s much-loved violin concerto following the evergreen »Freischütz« overture; crowning finale is Brahms’ Symphony No. 4. Principal guest conductor Ha-Na Chang conducts the concert.
