Australians in Film on Wednesday unveiled its 2018 honorees for the Australians in Film Awards, led by Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor Damon Herriman, who will receive the Orry-Kelly Award.
The Oct. 24 gala to celebrate Australian talent in Hollywood, set to take place at Paramount Pictures Studios, will also honor Hannah Gadsby, star of Netflix’s Nanette, with the Annette Kellerman Award, while Keiynan Lonsdale (The Flash, Insurgent) and Eliza Scanlen (Sharp Objects) will each receive a Breakthrough Award, recognizing Australian screen talent that broke out internationally in the past year.
“Thank you to Australians in Film for this wonderful honor. Having experienced Los Angeles before AiF, I can say that the place is infinitely better with them around,” Herriman said in a statement.
Actor, producer, director and writer Josh Lawson (The Little Death, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues), who was nominated for an Oscar this year for the short film The Eleven O’Clock, will host this year’s awards presentation.
Others to be honored include Oscar-winning film editor Lee Smith (Dunkirk, Inception), who will receive the International Award, and producer Mark Johnson (Rain Man, Breaking Bad), will receive the Ausfilm International Award for his contribution to the Australian film industry.
The AiF Awards are presented by Ausfilm, Fox Studios Australia, Qantas, Screen Australia and Village Roadshow Entertainment Group.
