The sky's the limit for young Morpeth singer-songwriter Izzy

In July, Izzy attended the CMAA (Country Music Association of Australia) Academy of Country Music where she had the opportunity to write songs, get advice from professionals and perform.

Izzy was awarded the CMAA Scholarship to attend, and said it was a great experience.

"There were so many amazingly talented people there, and so many people that were absolutely amazing coaches and mentors for you," she said.

"It was a pretty full on seven days but I wouldn't have had it any other way."

Izzy co-wrote a song with musician Sarah Buckley which she is in the process of recording now, called Biting Bullets.

The Hunter School of Performing Arts year seven student loves performing both originals and covers, and has been playing guitar since she was six-years-old.

"Country music's always been a huge part of my life thanks to my dad, he's raised me on people like Dolly Parton and Shania Twain; I think Shania Twain's Man I Feel Like A Woman music video, I think that was the first music video I ever watched and I was just completely blown away, I was like 'that's what I want to do mum'," she said.
