Welcome to the website of the Professional Players Federation, the national organisation for the Player Associations in the United Kingdom. There are over 17,500 professional sportsmen and women in Britain and the PPF is dedicated to promoting, protecting and developing their collective interests. We have been working for the players since our establishment in 1991.
The PPF currently has twelve Player Associations in membership who are responsible for setting our priorities. We focus on cross-sport issues that affect all the members such as match fixing, Diversity & Inclusion, career transition, mental health and anti-doping.
You will find information on a number of research and education projects we have undertaken to help our members as well as a range of resources available to help individual players. We also provide details of our various Committees which provide forums for our Player Associations to exchange ideas, share best practice and agree the organisation’s goals.

The PFA's Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Simone Pound has chaired the PPF’s EDI Committee since it was formed in 2023. Following the recent PPF Inclusion In Sport Week, we caught up with her to find out more about her work and the priorities for the EDI Committee.
The Professional Jockeys Association has partnered with the National Trainers Federation to offer an abuse reporting service for jockeys. Through the support and advice offered by the service already to trainers, numerous individuals have been traced, warned and not reoffended and there are three current live police investigations.

The Professional Players Federation (PPF) will be hosting its first Inclusion in Sport week from July 1st to 7th 2024 with cross sport contributions to panel discussions on Active Allyship and Inclusive Leadership . Working with members, the PPF will be sharing players’ personal stories, delivering education and promoting best practice to make professional sport more inclusive.
The PFA has today joined a legal case which will seek to challenge the structures of the current football calendar by enforcing the legal rights of players to take guaranteed and protected breaks. The PFA are co-claimants in the case, which has been placed before the Belgian courts, alongside the French players’ union (UNFP) and supported by FIFPRO Europe.
PFA Scotland welcome in the introduction of permanent concussion substitutes across all senior SPFL competitions. PFA Scotland, alongside FIFPRO, have been pushing for more support in this area over recent years.
The PCA has recently hit a landmark of surpassing EDI education delivery to 750 current professional and academy players in its tailormade ‘Learn Before Wicket’ (LBW) programme. Players have engaged with the sessions that were developed following the request for more EDI education through PCA member surveys.
England Rugby have confirmed the 32 Red Roses players under contract for the 2024/25 season. Maddie Feaunati (Exeter Chiefs), who earned five international caps in the 2024 Guinness Women’s Six Nations, has been awarded her maiden full-time England contract, as has two-time capped prop Liz Crake (Trailfinders Women).
