Pokmon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky is a continuation of the previous games; Explorers of Time & Explorers of Darkness. Featuring the same Dungeon crawling gameplay, Explorers of the Sky expands upon the story showing what happened to Grovyle the Thief after the storyling and also shows how the Wigglytuff Guild comes together and even has you as playing as some of the founding members of it outside of your Pokmon and your Partner.

As it is the sister game to Pokmon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time & Explorers of Darkness, Explorers of Sky retains everything from those games and just builds on them. However, there are some noticiable changes.

Firstly, there are a variety of new Dungeons which become available as you play through the game. These dungeons tend to be harder than the previous dungeons and many of them have entrance requirements that need you to have mastered the game. There is also a new feature in the form of Special Episodes. These five stories show various aspects of the life of various of the supporting characters in the storyline.

There are also minor additions throughout the game. First, Shaymin has been added to the game, bringing the Pokmon species count up to 492, with Arceus making a cameo at the end of the hardest dungeon. A new area called the Spinda's Caf has also been added. This Caf will allow you to get a variety of new items and new missions.

Overall, a lot of additions have been added to this game.
