(TAP) - President of the Republic Kais Saied, on Friday at Carthage Palace, received Kuwaiti poet AbdulAziz Saud Al-Babtain, who is Head of the Al-Babtain Foundation for Poetic Creativity.

The Head of State praised the historical contribution of the Foundation and Kuwait in general to the dissemination of culture, science and Arab thought.

He presented a project of an International Calligraphy Centre while articulating the will of Tunisia to implement this project in partnership with the Kuwaiti Foundation.

Al-Babtain took note of the different components of this project, which will be based in Tunis. He expressed the readiness of his Foundation to continue the partnership with Tunisia in order to carry out joint projects in the sectors of culture, education and teaching.

The Kuwaiti guest praised the role of the President of the Republic in the defence of the identity and the protection of the Arab culture, before awarding him the honorary shield of the Foundation in recognition of his efforts in the promotion of culture in general.

President Saied also received an official invitation to take part in the second International Congress on the Culture of Peace to be organised by the Foundation in Malta in 2022.

The City of Culture in Tunis is hosting, on Friday evening, the award ceremony of the Aboul-Qacem Echebbi Chair for Arabic Poetry, overseen by the President of the Republic.

The Abou el Kacem Chebbi Chair for Poetry is an initiative of the Al-Babtain Foundation for Poetic Creativity.
