Research Division
The Research Division comprises three major groups of departments conducting field and laboratory research (Department of Curatorial Work Studies, Department of Museum Collection Utilization Studies, and Department of Museum Informatics and Media Studies), analytical research employing radiometric techniques (Laboratory for Radiocarbon Dating and Micro Analysis Laboratory, Tandem Accelerator), and museum research with an emphasis on developing exhibition technologies (Department of Museum Technology, Department of Intermediatheque, and Department of Space Exploration, Education, and Discovery). On the whole, this division aims to create a new scientific environment to develop interdisciplinary research based on material remains. The research takes international relations into consideration. The institutions and museums that have signed memorandums of understanding with UMUT are located in Azerbaijan, Belgium, China, Ethiopia, France, India, Iran, Italy, the Philippines, Sweden, Taiwan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and, among other regions/countries.
