Visit Brandywine Valley
One of three Pennsylvania counties established by William Penn in 1682, Chester County was home to a western route that connected Philadelphia to the surrounding areas.
Today, Lancaster Avenue (U.S. Route 30) echoes that path, and is a main thoroughfare on which many of the county’s towns and attractions lie. Its reputation as a getaway from city life and a destination unto itself remains.
SEPTA buses and trains run to parts of Chester County, but its countryside layout is best explored by car.
