Critical Fire Weather in Southern New England; Heavy Rain and Mountain Snow for the Northwestern U.S.

Red Flag Warnings have been reissued today for southern New England due to more critical fire weather from gusty winds and dry fuels. An Atmospheric River will bring a marginal risk for heavy to excessive low elevation rain and mountain snow to the Pacific Northwest and northern California today into at least Thursday night. Large waves will break onshore early Tuesday morning, remaining through the day. Wave heights are currently forecasted to be between 18-22ft. These waves will be largest for W/NW facing beaches in Del Norte, Humboldt, and Mendocino counties.
A cold front will bring rain and wind to the region beginning overnight tonight. Moderate to at times heavy rain will be possible with the primary band of rain beginning Wednesday morning through the day. Additional rain showers and possible thunderstorms are expected through Thursday behind the front. Rain is expected across the entire forecast area with 2-4 inches in Del Norte County to as little as a half inch to an inch in southern Mendocino and Lake counties.
