The track list is, admittedly, a little dull. Luckily, the singing isn't.
  2. The match between Bennett and Gaga winds up quite differently from the one between the master and k.d. lang in 2002. Those two created a more sober and mature affair. By contrast, the duets with Gaga give Bennett a whole new hold on youth.

Their respective styles are occasionally at odds, but to amusing effect.

On Cheek to Cheek, Gaga justifies his [Tony Bennett's] faith--sometimes a bit too forcibly. Whereas Bennett is a master of restraint--a guy whose best performances play like melodic chat sessions--Gaga thrives on spectacle.

If you take this album in the spirit of throwaway fun in which it seems to have been concocted, it is harmlessly engaging, although all of these tracks have been delivered more persuasively before.

She sometimes blasts away at these songs rather than relaxing into them. But on challenges like the subtle Billy Strayhorn ballad "Lush Life," the queen of the little monsters more than proves she can be a sophisticated lady too.

Gaga comes off more as a dilettante than an aficionado on Cheek to Cheek.... Bennett doesn't fare a whole lot better, his otherwise charming performances strained throughout. The pair's solo efforts, particularly Gaga's clumsy interpretation of Billy Strayhorn's "Lush Life" and Bennett's surprisingly pitchy rendition of Duke Ellington's "Sophisticated Lady," only serve to spotlight their shortcomings.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So, Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett once again join together to sing, this time on a studio album - a collaboration made in 2011 for "Lady Is a Tramp" - Cheek to Cheek.

As before, Gaga shows a great voice that blends perfectly with the calm style Tony, as noted in the first singles from the album "Anything Goes" and "I Can not Give You Anything But Love" (my favorite).

In the tracks "Cheek to Cheek", "Nature Boy", "I Will not Dance" and "It Do not Mean a Thing" we realized they entered the studio for this partnership, is really incredible talent of the two.

We can not forget the voice of Gaga in "Lush Life" and "Bang Bang". She really honor these iconic songs. In the end, we see why Tony joined Gaga, talent is remarkablel, which is why both have 22 Grammy's together.

When my wife got me this album, I thought it would be one of those watered down version of standards to please Lady Gaga. But was immediately blown away by Lady Gaga's talent. Her phrasing, her range, the way she soared through complicated scales, it all screams she's a pro at this.
The musicians get to shine with very interesting decisions, specially the flute motif during Nature Boy, which is nothing short of genius. I'm also very happy to hear Mr. Bennett in such a good shape vocally.
Overall this album is wonderful. From the song choices to the arrangements. Both singers deliver a remarkable performance and honestly Lady Gaga blew me away.
She has the potential to become a modern Ella! Yes, I said it!

More self-indulgence from Lady GagMe, who was once a promising pop star but has turned herself into the butt of her own joke. Shame on Tony Bennett for working with her at the end of her career. Ms Germanotta will never recover from Artflop and her own ego the past year. Expand
