Just ten races into their inaugral season, one NASCAR Trucks team is making changes involving Danville Native Timothy Peters.
The Rackley W.A.R. team released a brief statement, saying they had come to a mutual agreement to end the partnership between themselves and Peters, effective on June 1st. In the statement, Rackley team co-owner Willie Allen said "We appreciate the foundation that Timothy Peters has brought to Rackley W.A.R.. We wish Timothy the best in his future racing endeavors. As a team, we remain focused on the remainder of the season."
The young team had found themselves struggling, sitting 21st in overall points, with two top-20 finishes in 2021.
In the interim, Josh Berry is joining the organization as the driver of the No. 25 Rackley Roofing Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at the Texas Motor Speedway (June 12), the Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway (June 18) and at the Pocono (Pa.) Raceway (June 26). Berry is the 2019 winner of the Valleystar Credit Union Late Model 300, as well as the XFinity Series' Cook Out 250 earlier this season. That win came behind the wheel of the #8 JR Motorsports car.
In addition, William Byron will race a second truck for Rackley, #27, at the Nashville truck series race on June 18th. The start will be Byron's first in the Truck Series since 2016, when he won seven races, and finished fifth in overall points for Kyle Busch Motorsports.
