Newcastle United complete deal to sell Joselu to La Liga club - here's how much Magpies will earn from sale

The Magpies will pick up a fee for the striker after two years on Tyneside

Newcastle United have sold Joselu to La Liga side Alavés.

The Spanish striker leaves after two years on Tyneside and has signed a three-year contract with the La Liga side.

The move should also pave the way for an incoming deal once Newcastle confirm their managerial situation and, as reported by the Chronicle in June, talks with Joelinton are ongoing - despite Rafa Benitez's departure.

Joselu's exit leaves Newcastle a little light in terms of forwards but Dwight Gayle and Yoshinori Muto remain at the club plus new signings are still expected on the agenda.

The former Stoke City striker netted just seven goals in 52 appearances and the fee is believed to be around the £2.5million figure.

A United statement read: "Joselu has completed a permanent move to La Liga side Deportivo Alavés.

"The 29-year-old forward has joined the Spanish side for an undisclosed fee, bringing his two-year stay at St James’ Park to an end.

"The club wishes Joselu well for the future."
