St Boniface College produces its own podcasts and in their report Jonny and Oscar tell why they enjoy being involved in it.

"Our school, St Boniface's Catholic College in Plymouth launched four podcasts this year.

They have been an immediate success and we are currently the number one school podcast in the whole world.

A podcast is basically video or radio which you can get on your computer, mobile phone, PSP or MP3 player.

Three aims

It is really simple to use and all you need to do is download a computer programme - normally free of charge - that finds and downloads the podcasts for you.

On a podcast you can have anything from radio shows, sports reports, news and lots more!

Bonifacepodcast has three main aims - to educate, to inform and to entertain!

Plan on paper

To make our podcasts we worked with our teacher (and form tutor) Mr Scott.

He taught us how to use the camcorders and the editing software.

It was necessary to plan out on paper first, so we knew what we wanted to say and do, and it helped the filming go smoothly.

Then we worked on the actual recording, which was a bit embarrassing at first, but we got used to it after a while!

Television industry

Each month, we have a chance to include lots of information about what is happening at St Boniface's College and what is coming up in the future.

Now we have featured the BBC Blast trailer to encourage more students in our school to be creative!

We are both really excited about the future of podcasting at our school and lots of people are now thinking about a future in the television industry."
