Chris Erskine's sixth-minute goal proved to be the difference between the two First Division sides in the Scottish Cup fourth-round replay.

Chris Mitchell was caught napping, allowing Erskine to shoot past Robert Olejnik from the edge of the box.

A Ryan Flynn cross from the left found Stewart Murdoch and his shot was well saved by Scott Fox in the Thistle goal.

Falkirk's best chances fell to Carl Finnigan, who missed with two headers and shot into the side netting late on.

Thistle's Paul Cairney had a shot that was hit too directly at Olejnik and with four minutes to go Liam Buchanan could have made the last few minutes easier on the Jags' nerves but he hit his effort wide of the goal from 18 yards.

The reward for Partick Thistle is an away tie against St Johnstone.
