Wales centre Tom Shanklin will miss Saturday's clash with Argentina at the Millennium Stadium because of a broken nose.

Shanklin suffered the injury in the 49th minute of Wales' 17-13 win over Samoa in a collision with team-mate Gethin Jenkins.

Scarlet Jonathan Davies is set to take over while Osprey Andrew Bishop has been called up as cover.

But Shanklin is expected to be fit to face Australia on 28 November.

Wales physiotherapist Mark Davies said: "Tom has a small fracture to the nasal bone which will limit his involvement in preparations this week and therefore rule him out of selection for the Argentina game.

"There is a certain amount of swelling there which will take a few days to settle down, but the injury requires no further treatment and he should be back in contention next week."

Bishop joins the Wales training camp without being officially made a full squad member.

Jones' Puma warning to Wales

Wales announce their team to face Argentina, who are one place above them in sixth in the International Rugby Board rankings, on Tuesday.

Wales coach Warren Gatland is already without star full-back Lee Byrne, Lions scrum-half Mike Phillips and tighthead prop Adam Jones.

Gatland's team, however, have been warned they must improve from their Samoan shocker on Friday where Wales almost lost to the south sea islanders before edging to a 17-13 victory at the Millennium Stadium.

Wales almost suffered defeat from the jaws of victory as Samoa missed a great opportunity to win the game in the final minutes in Cardiff.

And former Wales captain Robert Jones told BBC Wales' Scrum V: "Argentina will be more organised and structured and that is probably what Samoa lacked.

"And if we don't take our chances and are under pressure at the end then Argentina are capable of winning the game.

"As it is all down to their forward pack and scrimmaging before they demolished the English scrum in their defeat at Twickenham on Saturday and you can see them working on the Welsh scrum."

Argentina are renowned for their physical forward power, brute strength and their kicking game as Kingsley Jones, another former Wales skipper, has told Scrum V Wales should be wary of an aerial bombardment.

"There will be no secrets from the Argentina lads," said current Sale Sharks coach Jones.

"You know what they are going to do, the scrum is going to be massive and they'll pepper you aerially have people pressurising the receiver.

"We must mix the game up and counter attack but be patient as they will want us to counter attack when it is not on and hope to get the turnover and win penalties."

Argentina will be without star back duo Juan Martin Hernandez and Felipe Contepomi but former Wales flanker Jones insisted the Pumas will have a no-compromise approach.

"These guys are missing talismanic figures," he told BBC Scrum V's show.

"They want to come to Wales and win and do whatever it takes. They'll be under no pressure to score nice tries and they'll make it difficult."

Wales are bidding for their first back-to-back wins over the Pumas for 10 years as Argentina have won four of the last six meetings between the two nations.
