The third chapter in developer Blizzard's premier dungeon-crawler franchise. Diablo III picks up the story twenty years after the events of Diablo II. Mephisto, Diablo, and Baal have been defeated, but the Worldstone, which once shielded the inhabitants of the world of Sanctuary from the forces of both Heaven and Hell, has been destroyed, and evil once again stirs in Tristram. Playing as a hero from one of five distinct character classes, players will acquire powerful items, spells, and abilities as they explore new and familiar areas of Sanctuary and battle hordes of demons to safeguard the world from the horrors that have arisen.

Well, things seem to have settled down a bit after hours of server downtime after the release of Diablo 3 patch 1.0.7. Folks are making their way into the Scorched Chapel to take place in Brawls, the new PvP mode in the action-RPG. Of course, players had their concerns about the big changes, so the fine folks at Blizzard took some time to respond on their official forums. Read More »
Diablo 3 has seen its share of turmoil since it launched in May of last year. Today it takes another hit as its project lead, Game Director Jay Wilson, posted on the Blizzard forums today to announce that he'll be leaving Diablo after seven years to work on unspecified projects at Blizzard (Titan, perhaps?). I like getting new gear as much as the next guy, but when there's not a whole lot to use it for other than getting more loot, I get a little bored. That's when PvP comes in handy. That's why, with Diablo 3's upcoming Patch 1.0.7, I will be returning to Blizzard's action-RPG. The huge update brings PvP arenas, as well as a ton of monster, item, and class tweaks. Read More »
So, here we are about to hit 2013, and we still can't kill each other in Diablo 3. It launched way back on May 15th, so that's over seven months. 226 days. 5,424 hours. Not that we're counting. Anyway, Lead Designer Jay Wilson says it won't be much longer before your Barbarian can beat my Monk over the head with something heavy in a duel, a feature that will launch with the 1.07 patch "set to hit sometime after the new year," (so... between Jan 1st 2013 and when the sun burns out). However, the Team Deathmatch mode that was shown off at BlizzCons past has been shelved due to simply not being "good enough," and the team is looking at other modes. After all this time... is Blizzard just being too perfectionist about this? Read More »
Diablo 3 faced colossal expectations when it came out in May, and though it did deliver dozens of hours of hack-and-slash action, it fell short in several important areas. Now, with official word that an expansion is in the works, Blizzard has the opportunity to shore up some of those weaknesses and give Diablo 3 the kind of shot in the arm that Lord of Destruction gave Diablo 2. Aside from an offline mode that lets us play single-player without fear of lag (which is a given, but highly unlikely), here are the areas we hope and expect that Blizzard will focus on when it makes Diablo 3 bigger.
