Armenian Spellcheckers

HySpell is a free Armenian spellchecker that supports all flavors of modern Armenian: both Eastern and Western dialects, as well as both traditional and reformed spellings.

It's currently supported on a variety of desktop platforms, including Microsoft Office on Windows, the LibreOffice office suite, Firefox and Google Chrome web browsers, and Thunderbird email application.

Comprehensive Armenian lexicon

Over 150,000 lexemes and over 5 million inflected word forms cover virtually the entire breadth of the Armenian language.

Eastern and Western Armenian

The inflectional rules of both Eastern Armenian and Western Armenian dialects are incorporated.

Whether you write «Սիրում եմ քեզ» or «Կը սիրեմ քեզ», «Երեւանում եմ» or «Երեւանի մէջ եմ», HySpell will recognize both.

Reformed and Traditional Armenian Orthography

Both traditional Armenian orthography and reformed Armenian orthography are supported (only one is supported at a time, depending on the user's selection).

Traditional spelling mode

Traditional Armenian orthography is widely used in the Armenian Diaspora, whereas reformed Armenian orthography is widely used in the Republic of Armenia, and is a result of spelling reforms in the early years of Soviet Armenia.

Unrecognized words may be added to the dictionary with a few clicks.

Microsoft Office version

HySpell for Microsoft Office supports Armenian spellchecking within Microsoft Word documents and Microsoft Outlook email messages on the Windows operating system.

LibreOffice version

HySpell for LibreOffice supports Armenian spellchecking across the entire LibreOffice office suite, including the Writer word processor, Calc spreadhseet program, and Impress presentation program.

Firefox version

HySpell for Firefox enables spellchecking of Armenian text on virtually any website, including Facebook, Gmail, Yahoo!, Outlook.com, and Wikipedia.

Thunderbird version

HySpell for Thunderbird enables spellchecking of Armenian text in your email messages from inside the Thunderbird email application.

Google Chrome version

Since June 2019, Google Chrome comes pre-built with an Armenian-spellchecker based on HySpell. This allows you to spellcheck your Armenian text while you type anywhere on the Web.
