Asociación Panibérica de Academias Olímpicas

The Pan-Iberic Association of Olympic Academies has as its mission to enhance the work of National Olympic Academies in Spanish and Portuguese language nations, in cooperation with the International Olympic Academy. Founded in Madrid in 1988 as the Asociación Iberoamericana de Academias Olímpicas, it was later renamed as to include nations in Africa. The organization is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and currently encompasses academies from 27 nations in Africa, Europe and Latin America. The Spanish Olympic Academy was the driving force behind its creation.
