Malik Jahan Khanum Mahd-i ‘Ulya

Malik Jahan Khanum was the daughter of Baygum Jan Khanum (Fath ‘Ali Shah Qajar's daughter) and Muhammad Qasim Khan I‘tizad al-Dawlah Qajar Qavanlu (son of Sulayman Khan I‘tizad al-Dawlah Quvanlu); in 1819, at the age of fifteen, she married her cousin, Crown Prince Muhammad Mirza; their children: Malik Zadah Khanum ‘Izzat al-Dawlah and Nasir al-Din Shah Qajar

After the death of Muhammad Shah, while waiting for Nasir al-Din Mirza's arrival from Tabriz to Tehran, Mahd-i ‘Ulya was in charge of the Governing Council. During Nasir al-Din Shah's reign, Mahd-i ‘Ulya had an important role in the discharge, exile, and murder of Amir Kabir. Close
