He died on 28 April 1227.

     He succeeded as the King Otto IV of the Romans on 12 July 1198.3 He gained the title of Earl of York.2 He gained the title of Comte de Ponthieu.2 He succeeded as the Emperor Otto IV of the Holy Roman Empire on 4 October 1209.3 He was crowned Holy Roman Emperor on 4 October 1209.6
