Susan Quintal1

     Susan Quintal was born on 5 November 1833 at Pitcairn IslandG.2 She is the daughter of Edward Quintal and Dinah Adams.2 She married Fletcher Christian Nobbs, son of Reverend George Hunn Nobbs and Sarah Christian, on 20 June 1853 at Pitcairn IslandG.3 She died on 18 February 1917 at age 83 at Norfolk IslandG.2
     In 1851 she was one of the 14 women who invited Admiral Moresby to visit Pitcairn in 1851. Along with Jemima Young, Moresby went walking with Susan up in the mountains. He noted that 'she is very clever, and can repeat a great deal of Milton.2' From 20 June 1852, her married name became Nobbs.2

     Francis Mason Nobbs was born on 7 September 1835 at Pitcairn IslandG.1 He was the son of Reverend George Hunn Nobbs and Sarah Christian.1 He married Harriett Augusta Quintal, daughter of John Quintal and Dinah Young, on 25 December 1856 at Norfolk IslandG.1 He died on 15 June 1909 at age 73 at Norfolk IslandG.1
     He was a schoolteacher.2 He held the office of Chief Magistrate of Norfolk Island between 1876 and 1880.1 He held the office of Chief Magistrate of Norfolk Island between 1883 and 1884.2 He held the office of Chief Magistrate of Norfolk Island in 1894.2 He was President of the Norfolk Executive Council between 1903 and 1909.2

But with Reuben's injury causing him to return, it was noted that Francis had early symptoms of tuberculosis, and that he should return to Pitcairn for reasons of health.2
