     Hugh Montgomerie, 12th Earl of Eglinton was born on 5 November 1739.1 He was the son of Alexander Montgomerie and Lillias Montgomerie.3 He married Eleanora Hamilton, daughter of Robert Hamilton and Jean Mitchell, circa 3 June 1772.1 He died on 14 December 1819 at age 80.1
     He was commissioned in 1756, in the service of the British Army.1 He fought in the American War of Independence.1 He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Edinburgh Castle.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Ayrshire between 1780 and 1781.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Ayrshire between 1784 and 1789.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Ayrshire between 1796 and 1819.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)      Eleanora Hamilton was born circa 1742.3 She was the daughter of Robert Hamilton and Jean Mitchell.1,3 She married Hugh Montgomerie, 12th Earl of Eglinton, son of Alexander Montgomerie and Lillias Montgomerie, circa 3 June 1772.1 She died on 18 January 1817.1,3
     From circa 3 June 1772, her married name became Montgomerie. After her marriage, Eleanora Hamilton was styled as Countess of Eglinton on 30 October 1796.

Archibald Montgomerie, Lord Montgomerie was born on 30 July 1773.1 He was the son of Hugh Montgomerie, 12th Earl of Eglinton and Eleanora Hamilton.1 He married Lady Mary Montgomerie, daughter of General Archibald Montgomerie, 11th Earl of Eglinton and Frances Twysden, on 28 March 1803 at Duke Street, Westminster, London, England.2 He died on 4 January 1814 at age 40 at Alicante, SpainG.1
     He was styled as Lord Montgomerie between 1796 and 1814.1

     Sir Charles Montolieu Lamb, 2nd Bt. was born on 8 July 1785 at Nantcribba Hall, Forden, Montgomeryshire, WalesG.2 He was the son of Sir James Bland Lamb, 1st Bt. and Anne Montolieu.2 He married, firstly, Lady Mary Montgomerie, daughter of General Archibald Montgomerie, 11th Earl of Eglinton and Frances Twysden, on 30 June 1815.2 He married, secondly, Frances Margesson, daughter of Reverend William Margesson and Mary Frances Cooke, on 28 October 1853 at Geneva, SwitzerlandG.2 He died on 21 March 1860 at age 74 at Beauport Park, Hastings, Sussex, England.3,4
     He was given the name of Charles Montolieu Burgess at birth. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Ayrshire Yeomanry.2 As of 1821, Sir Charles Montolieu Lamb, 2nd Bt. used the pen-name of Charles Montolieu Lamb by Royal Licence. He held the office of Knight Marshal of the Royal Household between 1824 and 1864.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Burges [G.B., 1795] on 1 December 1824.2 He held the office of Sheriff of Sussex between 1829 and 1830.2
