Samuel Brian Digby Hood was born on 1 June 1910.3 He was the son of Alexander Frank Hood and Gladys Ursula Youell.4 He married Myrtle Baron, daughter of Sir Louis Bernard Baron, 1st Bt., on 8 April 1937.3 He died on 15 September 1988 at age 78 at Stow on the Wold, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.3,2
     He fought in the Second World War, and was mentioned in despatches twice.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Middlesex Yeomanry.3 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)3
