     Sir William Godfrey Agnew was born on 11 October 1913 at Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England.² He was the son of Lennox Edelsten Agnew.³ He married, firstly, Ruth Mary Moore, daughter of Captain Charles Joseph Henry O'Hara Moore and Lady Dorothie Mary Evelyn Feilding, in 1939.² He married, secondly, Nancy Veronica Gilbey, daughter of Charles Newman Gilbey and Lettice Charlotte Watney, on 27 September 1965.³ He died on 10 December 1995 at age 82.³
