     James Edward Geoffrey de Montmorency was born on 6 December 1866.1 He was the son of James Lodge de Montmorency and Susan Kiddell.2 He married Caroline Maud Saumarez de Havilland, daughter of Maj.-Gen. James de Havilland and Caroline Rainier Jones, on 15 August 1899.1 He died on 9 March 1934 at age 67.1
     He graduated from Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)1 He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was a practising barrister.1 He was Quain Professor of Comparative Law between 1920 and 1943 at London University, School of Law, London, EnglandG.1

     Maj.-Gen. James de Havilland was born on 16 June 1828 at Guernsey, Channel Islands.2,3 He was the son of Major Charles de Havilland and Martha Saumarez.4 He married, firstly, Louisa Magdalene Atkinson, daughter of George Atkinson, on 27 April 1852 at Newton Abbot, Devon, England.3 He married, secondly, Caroline Rainier Jones in 1870 at Kensington, London, England.3 He died on 11 March 1906 at age 77.2
     He gained the rank of Major-General in the Royal Artillery.1
