Jacobs, in October 1841.2 He married, secondly, Edith Barrow Montefiore, daughter of Joseph Barrow Montefiore and Rebecca Mocatta, on 22 January 1878.1 He died on 23 August 1886 at Waterloo Quadrant, Auckland, New ZealandG.1,2 He was buried on 25 August 1886 at Jewish Cemetery, Auckland, New ZealandG.2

     Sir Moses Haim Montefiore, 1st and last Bt. was born on 24 November 1784.1 He was the son of Joseph Elias Montefiore and Rachel de Mattos Mocatta.1 He married Judith Cohen, daughter of Levi Barent Cohen and Lydia Diamantschleifer, on 10 June 1812.3 He died on 28 July 1885 at age 100, without issue.1
     He held the office of Sheriff of London and Middlesex in 1837.1 He was appointed Knight on 9 November 1837.1 He held the office of Lieutenant of the City of London.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Middlesex in 1845.1 He was created 1st Baronet Montefiore, of East Cliff Lodge, Ramsgate, Kent [U.K.] on 23 July 1846.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Kent in 1847.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)1
