     James Hannay was born on 20 April 1794.¹ He was the son of David Hannay and Jane Kelly.² He died on 3 January 1872 at age 77, without issue.¹
     He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Hannay, of Mochrum, co. Kirkcudbright [N.S., 1630] in 1842, de jure.¹ In 1853 he was served heir male of Robert Hannay at Mill of Clugston.¹ He lived at Creetown, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland^G.¹

     Gordon Hannay was born on 11 April 1758.¹ He was the son of James Hannay and Anne McCulloch.² He died in July 1761 at age 3.¹

     John McCulloch Hannay was born on 26 May 1761.¹ He was the son of James Hannay and Anne McCulloch.² He died in July 1761.¹

     Henry Hannay was born on 31 March 1766.¹ He was the son of James Hannay and Anne McCulloch.² He married Helen Fraser, daughter of Colonel Simon Fraser of Daltulic, in 1798.¹
     He was Collector of Excise for Elgin.¹

     Helen Fraser was the daughter of Colonel Simon Fraser of Daltulic.² She married Henry Hannay, son of James Hannay and Anne McCulloch, in 1798.¹

     Margaret Campbell Graham was the daughter of Alexander Graham.² She married Colonel Simon Fraser Hannay, son of Henry Hannay and Helen Fraser, between 1 March 1827 and 4 July 1827.¹ She died on 4 July 1841.¹
     From between 1 March 1827 and 4 July 1827, her married name became Hannay.¹
