     Rear-Admiral Sir William Edward Parry was born on 19 December 1790 at Bath, Somerset, England.3 He was the son of Caleb Hillier Parry.4 He married, firstly, Hon. Isabella Louisa Stanley, daughter of John Thomas Stanley, 1st Baron Stanley of Alderley and Hon. Maria Josepha Holroyd, on 23 October 1826.5 He married, secondly, Catherine Edwards Hankinson, daughter of Reverend Robert Hankinson, in 1841.1,2 He died on 8 July 1855 at age 64 at Bad Ems, Germany.3
     He was commander of an Arctic Expedition between 1819 and 1820.3 He was commander of an Arctic Expedition between 1821 and 1823.3 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in February 1821.3 He was commander of an Arctic Expedition between 1824 and 1825.3 He was appointed Knight on 29 April 1829.3 He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral on 4 June 1852.3
