Captain Lionel Hugo Palmer1

     Captain Lionel Hugo Palmer was born on 22 October 1870.1 He was the son of Sir Charles Mark Palmer, 1st Bt. and Augusta Mary Lambert.2 He married, firstly, Ida Brae Wilson, daughter of Wilberforce Wilson, on 6 February 1893.1 He married, secondly, Blanche Balmford, daughter of Walter Balmford, on 10 May 1906.1 He died on 7 September 1914 at age 43.1
     He fought in the Boer War between 1901 and 1902, he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Lieutenant.1 He was awarded the Queen's South Africa Medal with four clasps.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Third Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment.1 He was awarded the Freeman of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1902.1 He was Captain of the Royal North-West Mounted Police at Canada.1
