     Maria Henrietta Sophia Phipps was born circa 1836. She was the daughter of Hon. Sir Charles Beaumont Phipps and Margaret Anne Bathurst.1 She married, firstly, Captain Frederick Sayer, son of Robert Sayer and Frances Julia Errington, on 29 January 1856.1 She married, secondly, Lt.-Col. William Chaine on 4 December 1872.1 She died on 21 December 1915.1
     From 29 January 1856, her married name became Sayer. She was Keeper of the State Apartments, Kensington Palace.1 From 4 December 1872, her married name became Chaine.

     Captain Frederick Sayer was born on 2 August 1832.2 He was the son of Robert Sayer and Frances Julia Errington.2 He married Maria Henrietta Sophia Phipps, daughter of Hon. Sir Charles Beaumont Phipps and Margaret Anne Bathurst, on 29 January 1856.3 He died on 29 February 1868 at age 35 at Cairo, Egypt.2
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Welch Fusiliers.1
