     Ferdinand William Cavendish-Bentinck, 8th Duke of Portland was born on 4 July 1888.¹ He was the son of William George Frederick Cavendish-Bentinck and Ruth Mary St. Maur.¹ He married, firstly, Wentworth Frances Hope Johnstone, daughter of William James Hope Johnstone and Emily Mary Baillie, on 9 May 1912.³ He and Wentworth Frances Hope Johnstone were divorced in 1950.¹ He married, secondly, Gwyneth Ethel Edward, daughter of John Wesley Edward, on 21 September 1950.¹ He died on 13 December 1980 at age 92.⁴
