History
Jan Lettens 17/08/2015
PORT BOWEN on her way from Sydney, N.S.W. to London with general cargo, was wrecked 1 mile north of Wanganui, New Zealand. It is possible that PORT BOWEN was mined by a mine laid by the German cruiser ORION and that she may have been grounded to prevent sinking.
Chipchase Nick 26/09/2011
Wrecked 0.5 mile north of Wanganui. The wreck was salvaged by the construction of a pier. The entire refrigeration plant was recovered and reused elsewhere.
