Faith Abubéy and Elizabeth Schulze

Team,

I am pleased to announce that Faith Abubéy and Elizabeth Schulze are joining ABC News this week as Multi-Platform Reporters based here in Washington.

Faith joins ABC News with nearly a decade of experience as Reporter, most recently an Investigative Reporter at WXIA in Atlanta, where she won numerous awards for her enterprise reporting that held powerful interests accountable. Those investigations made a meaningful impact in her community, including one report on the Atlanta Braves’ secret fight for taxpayer money from Cobb County, which eventually led to the Braves dropping their multi-million demand. Another of Faith’s investigations revealed more than 100 instances of Atlanta area school bus drivers breaking the law and endangering children’s lives. Faith is an Emmy Award-winning journalist. She was also awarded a Knight TV Data Fellowship by the Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) for her investigative reports, and the investigative news magazine she co-anchored and launched at WXIA, “The Reveal,” has won multiple Edward R. Murrow and Emmy Awards as well.

Faith also covered political and breaking news at WXIA, including presidential politics, Stacey Abrams’ campaign for governor, and the WC-130 military plane crash that killed members of the Puerto Rico Air National Guard in Savannah, GA. Before moving to Atlanta, Faith was an Anchor and Reporter at WFMY in Greensboro, NC, and a Reporter and fill-in Anchor at KTHV in Little Rock, AR.

Elizabeth joins us from CNBC, where she has spent years reporting on the impact of fiscal policy on workers and businesses. For the past year, she has been a Washington-based Multimedia Reporter, covering the economic impact of the COVID pandemic and reporting on the effect of lawmakers’ stimulus policies on workers around the country. Elizabeth reported on the millions of Americans who were unable to access paid sick leave during the pandemic, and she convinced essential workers across the country to speak with her exclusively about how they lost their jobs after calling out sick. Elizabeth also hosted the digital series “What’s Next,” featuring interviews with prominent CEOs and economists about the path forward for the global economy.

Prior to this role, Elizabeth was a Technology Correspondent at CNBC International in London, where she covered world technology news, including France’s digital tax and the economic impact it had on American companies such as Amazon, and the resulting geopolitical tensions between President Trump and President Macron. Before relocating to London, Elizabeth held multiple producer roles at CNBC, including three years as an Economics Producer covering the Federal Reserve.

It is fitting that both Faith and Elizabeth start at the same time as the political conventions, and as we gear up for the sprint to Election Day this November. I am confident each will be an excellent addition to our talented Washington team, and they will help our audience make sense of this incredible moment in American political history.

Please join me in welcoming Faith and Elizabeth to ABC News.

Elwyn Lopez

Team,

I am pleased to announce that Elwyn Lopez has joined ABC News as our first Multi-Platform Reporter based in Atlanta.

Most recently Elwyn was a General Assignment Reporter at WXIA in Atlanta, where she was the first journalist at the station to report in both English and Spanish on the air. Her bilingual reporting focused on immigration policies and their impact on those living in Georgia.

Previously, she worked at CNN’s Atlanta headquarters, where she covered international and national stories including El Chapo’s escape in Mexico, the tragic 2015 church shooting in Charleston, the Baltimore protests following Freddie Gray’s death while in police custody, Hurricane Patricia and Hurricane Matthew. Elwyn also traveled to Cuba multiple times to cover notable events, including President Obama’s historic visit and the peace negotiations between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). While at CNN, Elwyn reported in both English and Spanish for its international affiliates on significant stories including the Women’s March, DACA developments and the Trump administration’s immigration policies.

Elwyn was born in the U.S. but grew up in Madrid in a bilingual, bicultural household. In addition to English and Spanish, Elwyn is fluent in French and is the current National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) Atlanta Chapter President.

In the midst of this relentless news cycle, I am excited to have Elwyn join our team in Atlanta including Steve Osunsami, Brandon Baur, Janice McDonald and Darryl Calhoun. She is a skillful storyteller, and her reporting for our NewsOne, Digital and Radio audiences will be vital in the months ahead.

Please join me in welcoming Elwyn to ABC News.

Wendy
