What I wanted from this was some slice of life in the city of tempest and additional characterisation for the cast, which the main show doesn't find time for.
Does it achieve this? For the most part.
The joke about shion's bad cooking was already milked dry in the main series and is just blatantly beaten to death here.
Many jokes don't really land, but the overall vibe is relaxing, invites you to stay and puts a warm smile on your face.
I like what they did with Milim, but most impressive to me were the moments with Geld, which weren't just jokes, but also a bit somber, yet hopeful, subtle but poignant, exploring the emotional scars of what the orcs went through.
The artwork differences didn't really bother me (in fact some of the smoother facial features suited the relaxed tone of the show very well) and it does almost exactly what I wanted it to. Recommended to anyone watching the series who can stomach some slice of life with 4koma skits.
