Baby Saurus Dooly, Dooly the Baby Dinosaur, or Agi Gongryong Dooly is one of the most respected Korean Animation of all time. Even tho it is also all-time favorite of mine, I shell grade this strictly.
The animation work was done in end of 1980s of South Korea. That was time period hi-quality Korean artists were being migrated into Toei Workshop, which later became part of major company we now known as Bandai Co. These workers later formed subdivisionary of Bandai and Toei in Korea, which now well known as Daiwon Co. Ltd. of Korea.
But on with the works. Animation is quite old. Expect drawing style of Japanese anime of 60s-70s, with alot more mishaps. That's best way I can describe older Korean works. But being fair enough, I decided to rate it as 8, since it is regarded as #1 Korean Animation of All Time.
Soundwork is quite poor, I must say. Sometimes, character's mouth and the words quite desync alot, making it way less smooth. Musics were done with very limited and minimal resource. This synches are to be corrected when it is cleaned-and-reworked in 2007. Until then, I shell grade undecent grade of 6.
Storyline wise, it is well-done. Dinosaur trapped in ice and floating into Yellow Sea. Quite impossible, but story was extremely well-narrated for that age. Personally, I don't think any other manhwaga (Korean Mangaka equivilant) would have pulled it off. Even tho it may be bit ordinary things if it was other characters, like, plain human childrens, but Dooly the Dinosaur, while acting more mature then most kids, still acts like human kids at times. Heh, it's just plain cute and funny and weird and ironic. ~Teyuka~~~ (Should I say) Characteristics?
Because Dooly is constantly re-run in Korea, I did value of 9. It even had highest rating for Animation/Overall in Korean Television history once, which is sufficient reason for 9. Thinking all this, and going back to history, Dooly is most respected character in South Korea. If in any case you're starting Korean animation, even if it's from Ragnorakz to Wonderful Dayz, Baby Saurus Dooly is best Manhwa to start the collection off.
