Evan Buckley has everything. Kind of. He's a successful soccer player, one of the stars of his team, LAFC. It's almost enough that he doesn't think about his girlfriend leaving him to travel, or his best friend leaving him for the army all those years ago. He doesn't think about it, he swears.
After being knocked out of the playoffs last year, he's determined to win the MLS Cup this year and nothing is going to stand in his way.
That is until his coach tells him the team has traded for a midfield partner.
A man named Eddie Diaz.
Eddie Diaz is a soccer player and a single dad, stretched to the limit with an overbearing family. So when the manager of FC Dallas tells him he's being traded to LAFC, the home of his former best friend, he can't help but feel like this could be a brand new start for him and his son.

Buck's firefam do not approve of the adoption, and neither does Eddie - can Buck convince them that Ryan deserves a second chance or are the firefam right?

“Buck, please wake up.” His voice sounds like a plea now, the tears have subsided a bit and so has the tension in his body. Buck looks so calm which makes this all the more ironic and painful. He looks like he's just sleeping, just like when he sleeps over at home and finds him the next morning in the strangest position on the couch. But he feels that something is missing, that something doesn't quite add up in this scene. And it's not just the hospital gown, nor all the pain he feels. There's something missing. “I can't do this without you.”
Or, while Eddie waits for Buck to wake up from his coma and is having a hard time, Buck is in a dream where he and Eddie have been married for 5 years.

Buck had dropped the lawsuit and his family won’t forgive him for suing them. Originally Buck thought it’d blow over but after 2 months he’s lost hope for things going back to normal. Then his call back to action from the Navy comes and he doesn’t fight it.
Aka: Buck is tired of fighting for the family that no longer wants him. Its set during the post Lawsuit era and its a story about of Buck was a Naval aviator and he gets called back for the suicide mission from Top Gun: Maverick.
