Summary
“Now,” Eddie breathes deep, forces himself to straighten his shoulders, lift his chin; have some dignity: “will you please let us ride home in silence and leave me alone.”
“I cannot.”
It was not a question, in fairness. Of course he doesn’t get a real answer.
“Please,” Eddie tries to pack a lifetime of friendship into a single word, tries to summon some long-crafted pity if nothing else will suffice.
“I cannot,” Steve leans forward, and his eyes are…other, somehow. A certain glow about them in too little light.
“Because,” and he breathes, stares; Eddie’s almost afeared for his well-being when he whispers: “Eddie,” his name like a prayer to a god Eddie’s never known to name, before he may well speak in tongues for how much sense he makes:
“What if I did have feelings for you?”
Eddie…can only blink, and think to feel Steve’s forehead for fever, and ignore entirely the sudden rabbit-beat of his heart.
“What?”

Summary
When Eddie Munson first learned he won a dumb online contest to meet the cast of his favorite fantasy show, he didn't expect it to bring out so many feelings.
He was happy, of course, because this was a dream come true. He was excited to actually meet them, take pictures, and see the new episode of the show. And he was definitely worried about one person in particular. Steve Harrington, who happened to be the main character of the show and someone Eddie couldn't stand.
Amid all those feelings, Eddie also didn't expect to be missing one of his online friends so much. The hurt from getting ghosted still lingered, but Eddie would be lying if he said he didn't still have hope that Knight would come back.
He just didn't know what he was hoping for.
OR; the one where Steve Harrington is a famous actor in a Fantasy show and Eddie Munson is a fanfic writer who hates his guts.

Summary
“He feels so much and I,” Eddie exhales, surprised by how little it shakes, but maybe that’s a sad thing, just proves how much he’s accepted the facts and is still…here. Feeling all of this and willing to accept the devastation that’s already drawn in his cards: because Steve is worth it. More than worth it. For just a second of everything he’s felt across these months: Steve Harrington is worth the whole heart in Eddie's chest, so if that’s the cost, then: fuck.
Worth the price of admission and then some.
“I’m not what he’s looking for, though, not for always,” Eddie lays that out plain, because he means it—Steve cares for him, probably loves him in a way and it's such a good way; Eddie doesn’t doubt him when he talks around the word, and doesn’t think too hard on how he doesn’t say it straight out. Because:
“I’m not what he’s waiting for, what he deserves,” Eddie shrugs, and if he hugs himself a little for it, then, fuck off: the trailer’s new but the draft’s still a bitch. “He’s waiting on that apple pie kinda life, that picket-fence love, y’know?”
---
Or: Eddie maybe bares his soul a little to Wayne.
Odd, then, that he forgot Steve was coming over. And has his own key.

Summary
And to behold Steven across the moors in the slow-breaking rays of day: subtle, coy, glimmering but ever-gentle, as if in deference to his nature cast in this moment so delicate, lips parted as if his lungs conduct the breeze that calls the grasses to dance—it is not songs but hymns, then: greater held here in the golden tendril-strands of being itself, more dear in these moments than Solomon’s Song in its every measure and metre—more sacred to a sweeter god.
And if Eddie’s feet move him unconsidered yet conscious in the soul of him, beckoned in his blood and bones—if Eddie crosses the strides between them to where Steven watches, those parted lips nearer now as the beloved lines of that face appraise him with just a tilt of consideration, perhaps curiosity. It is not impassive but it is inscrutable, and Eddie’s heart takes pains to fill with all his blood, to pound hard until he’s dizzy with it—though less so than he is with the dancing starshine in that gaze.
His cause for hope.
“I couldn’t sleep.”
