Cas felt his heart racing as Dean approached.
Then Dean’s arms were around him. Cas wanted to live forever in that moment of closeness.
Which lasted all of four seconds.
Dean drew away quickly, and Cas swayed on his feet, unbalanced.
Dean gave him two pats on the shoulder.
“Good to have you back, buddy,” he said, his voice flat and mechanical.
Cas was dying all over again.

Summary
Getting the girl of your dreams is expensive, especially when it's Lisa Braeden - and so Dean finds himself, plus faithful and ever-saracastic companions Jo and Victor, being packed off to volunteer at a summer camp to earn some extra cash. Of course, when Dean gets to the beach, there's still a couple hundred screaming children to contend with, as well as sand in places sand should never be, and Castiel Novak, award-winning Recluse of the Century, but those are just bumps in the road to getting the girl. The plan is absolutely foolproof.

“So- so you’d basically be using some sort of sigil to mask our human souls from the Empty?” Sam’s voice interrupts Dean’s desperate train of thought and startles him back to the present.
“Yes.” Jack is nodding, smiling, all gap-toothed and kindergarten positivity.
“And the only parts of us the Empty would see are whatever dead leaves the angels and demons left in our gutters?” Dean raises his eyebrows.
“Exactly.”
He lets out a low whistle. There’s a living warmth finally coming back into his complexion. Not done yet, Winchester, still one more rescue mission. “It’s gotta be me. I’m going.”

Summary
Stiles was different in a way Derek had never understood the first few years. He supposed it was because he’d never met a human who was just so selfless. Stiles wasn’t in this for any other reason than because his best friend had become a Werewolf and he wanted to help keep him safe. And along the way, he’d helped a Kanima, and a Banshee, and a Kitsune, and a Chimera, and a Hellhound and just... Stiles was amazing.
Stiles was the singularly most amazing person Derek had ever met in his life.
It was probably why he’d slowly but surely been falling in love with him.
