Ruhr Ding 2021
Klima
08 May - 27 Jun 2021
With the Ruhr Ding: Klima, Urbane Künste Ruhr is showing 22 art projects in public spaces in the cities of Gelsenkirchen, Herne, Recklinghausen and Haltern am See from 8 May to 27 June 2021. The exhibition, conceived by Britta Peters, focuses on global warming as well as on the social climate that accompanies this situation. The artistic works range from video installations, audio walks and performances to artificial botanical landscapes and floating pavilions, adding further historical, fantastic and futuristic dimensions to the present climate discourse. Not at least art functions as perceptual amplifiers for the special features of the Ruhr region: The choice of exhibition sites ranges from the former General Blumenthal colliery in Recklinghausen to the shallows of lake of Silbersee II in Haltern.
