Abstract:
In this paper we present a shape optimization scheme which utilizes the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) to approximate a direction of steepest descent in $W^{1,\infty}$. The followed strategy is a combination of the approaches presented in Deckelnick, Herbert, and Hinze, ESAIM: COCV 28 (2022) and Müller et al. SIAM SISC 45 (2023). This has appeared previously for relatively simple elliptic PDEs with geometric constraints which were handled using an ad-hoc projection. Here, however, the optimization problem is expanded to include geometric constraints, which are systematically fulfilled. Moreover, this results in a nonlinear system of equations, which is challenging from a computational perspective. Simulations of a fluid dynamics case study are carried out to benchmark the novel method. Results are given to show that, compared to other methods, the proposed methodology allows for larger deformations without affecting the convergence of the used numerical methods. The mesh quality is studied across the surface of the optimized obstacle, and is further compared to previous approaches which used descents in $W^{p,\infty}$. The parallel scalability is tested on a distributed-memory system to illustrate the potential of the proposed techniques in a more complex, industrial setting.

We design a supersymmetric SU (5) GUT model using Δ(54), a finite non-abelian subgroup of SU (3)f . Heavy right handed neutrinos are introduced which transform as three-dimensional repre-sentation of our chosen family group. The model successfully reproduces the mass hierarchical mass structures of the Standard Model, and the CKM mixing matrix. It then provides predictions for the light neutrino with a normal hierarchy and masses such that mν,1 \approx 5\times10-3 eV, mν, 2 \approx 1\times 10-2 eV, and mν,3 \approx 5 \times 10-2 eV. We also provide predictions for masses of the heavy neutrinos, and correc- tions to the tri-bimaximal matrix that fit within experimental limits, e.g. a reactor angle of -7.31o. A simple modification to our model is introduced at the end and is shown to also produce predictions that fall well within those limits.

The Flavor Group Delta(6n^2)

Abstract:
Many non-Abelian finite subgroups of SU (3) have been used to explain the flavor structure of the Standard Model. In order to systematize and classify successful models, a detailed knowledge of their mathematical structure is necessary. In this paper we shall therefore look closely at the series of finite non-Abelian groups known as Delta(6n^2), its smallest members being S3 (n = 1) and S4 (n =…

Many non-Abelian finite subgroups of SU (3) have been used to explain the flavor structure of the Standard Model. In order to systematize and classify successful models, a detailed knowledge of their mathematical structure is necessary. In this paper we shall therefore look closely at the series of finite non-Abelian groups known as Delta(6n^2), its smallest members being S3 (n = 1) and S4 (n = 2). For arbitrary n, we determine the conjugacy classes, the irreducible representations, the Kronecker products as well as the Clebsch-Gordan coefficients.
