Radiationless deactivation channels of 2-thiocytosine in aqueous environment are revisited by means of quantum-chemical simulations of excited-state absorption spectra, and investigations of potential energy surfaces of the chromophore clustered with two water molecules using the algebraic diagrammatic construction method to the second-order (ADC(2)), and multireference configuration interaction with single and double excitations (MR-CISD) methods. We argue that interactions of explicit water molecules with thiocarbonyl group might enable water-chromophore electron transfer (WCET) which leads to formation of intersystem crossing that was not considered previously. This is the first example of a WCET process occurring in the triplet manifold of electronic states. This phenomenon might explain nonradiative decay of the triplet state population observed in thiopyrimidines in the absence of molecular oxygen. According to our calculations this WCET process might also entail a subsequent, virtually barrierless, electron-driven proton transfer (EDPT) resulting in the formation of hydroxyl radical which could further participate in photohydration or deamination reactions.

This paper presents thermal analyses of a power amplifier placed in a wind tunnel. All the investigations are based on the transient temperature measurements performed during the circuit cooling process. The measured cooling curves were used to compute the cumulative and differential structure functions for the circuit with a heat sink. These functions helped to determine the optimal values of circuit model parameters necessary for numerical thermal simulations. The experiments demonstrated the influence of the wind speed on the value of the heat transfer coefficient and consequently on the temperature of the entire structure.

Abstract:
Multiple emission of intermediate-mass fragments has been studied for the collisions of p, $^4$He and $^{12}$C on Au with the $4π$ setup FASA. The mean IMF multiplicities (for the events with at least one IMF) are saturating at the value of $2.2\pm0.2$ for the incident energies above 6 GeV. The observed IMF multiplicities cannot be described in a two-stage scenario, a fast cascade followed by a statistical multifragmentation. Agreement with the measured IMF multiplicities is obtained by introducing an intermediate phase and modifying empirically the excitation energies and masses of the remnants.
The angular distributions and energy spectra from the p-induced collisions are in agreement with the scenario of ``thermal'' multifragmentation of a hot and diluted target spectator. In the case of $^{12}$C+Au(22.4 GeV) and $^4$He(14.6 GeV)+Au collisions, deviations from a pure thermal break-up are seen in the energy spectra of the emitted fragments, which are harder than those both from model calculations and from the measured ones for p-induced collisions. This difference is attributed to a collective flow.
