One of the promising applications of satellite images is building construction monitoring. It allows to control the construction progress around the world even in the locations that are hard to reach. One of the main hurdles of this approach is the interpretation of the image data. In this paper, we have employed several novel deep learning techniques to tackle the problem. Various image segmentation and object detection networks were combined into a unified pipeline, which was then used to determine the building construction progress.

Exploring highly connected networks of qubits is invaluable for implementing various quantum algorithms and simulations as it allows for entangling qubits with reduced circuit depth. Here, we demonstrate a multi-qubit STAR (Sideband Tone Assisted Rabi driven) gate. Our scheme is inspired by the ion qubit Mølmer-Sørensen gate and is mediated by a shared photonic mode and Rabi-driven superconducting qubits, which relaxes restrictions on qubit frequencies during fabrication and supports scalability. We achieve a two-qubit gate with maximum state fidelity of 0.95 in 310 ns, a three-qubit gate with state fidelity 0.905 in 217 ns, and a four-qubit gate with state fidelity 0.66 in 200 ns. Furthermore, we develop a model of the gate that show the four-qubit gate is limited by shared resonator losses and the spread of qubit-resonator couplings, which must be addressed to reach high-fidelity operations.

It was experimentally confirmed that if steel cyclic stress reduces to less than tensile yield stress values, i.e. in case of high-cycle fatigue, the mechanism of fracture changes from dislocation to vacancy one. This conclusion was based on the fact that steel density determined by the method of liquid displacement is less than that of steel in both initial condition and after fracture under the cyclic loads exceeding tensile yield stress values. In the latter case steel hardness increases, whereas the steels fractured under the cyclic stresses less than their tensile yield stress values show no change in hardness. It means that in such a case metal fractures without strain hardening, i.e. undergoes brittle fracturing developing by vacancy mechanism rather than by dislocation one. As a result such steel obtains the structure and properties similar to those appearing after its exposure to radiation, i.e. friability and brittleness. The results obtained allow us to explain the presence of a horizontal section in the Wöhler fatigue failure diagram

We describe and implement a family of entangling gates activated by radio-frequency flux modulation applied to a tunable transmon that is statically coupled to a neighboring transmon. The effect of this modulation is the resonant exchange of photons directly between levels of the two-transmon system, obviating the need for mediating qubits or resonator modes and allowing for the full utilization of all qubits in a scalable architecture. The resonance condition is selective in both the frequency and amplitude of modulation and thus alleviates frequency crowding. We demonstrate the use of three such resonances to produce entangling gates that enable universal quantum computation: one iSWAP gate and two distinct controlled Z gates. We report interleaved randomized benchmarking results indicating gate error rates of 6% for the iSWAP (duration 135ns) and 9% for the controlled Z gates (durations 175 ns and 270 ns), limited largely by qubit coherence.

We have produced ultrathin epitaxial graphite films which show remarkable 2D electron gas (2DEG) behavior. The films, composed of typically 3 graphene sheets, were grown by thermal decomposition on the (0001) surface of 6H-SiC, and characterized by surface-science techniques. The low-temperature conductance spans a range of localization regimes according to the structural state (square resistance 1.5 kOhm to 225 kOhm at 4 K, with positive magnetoconductance). Low resistance samples show characteristics of weak-localization in two dimensions, from which we estimate elastic and inelastic mean free paths. At low field, the Hall resistance is linear up to 4.5 T, which is well-explained by n-type carriers of density 10^{12} cm^{-2} per graphene sheet. The most highly-ordered sample exhibits Shubnikov - de Haas oscillations which correspond to nonlinearities observed in the Hall resistance, indicating a potential new quantum Hall system. We show that the high-mobility films can be patterned via conventional lithographic techniques, and we demonstrate modulation of the film conductance using a top-gate electrode. These key elements suggest electronic device applications based on nano-patterned epitaxial graphene (NPEG), with the potential for large-scale integration.

The quantum phase difference across a superfluid Josephson-like weak link may exhibit periodic motion describable by a nonlinear equation identical to that of a rigid pendulum. We have directly observed this mode and find that the phase oscillation frequency decreases toward zero as the phase amplitude increases toward $π$. We have directly observed this mode and find that the phase oscillation frequency decreases toward zero as the phase amplitude increases toward $π$. We also find that the low amplitude frequency is a direct measure of the weak link's critical current in quantitative agreement with theory.
