A guide to the QCD light-cone sum rule for $b$-quark decays
Abstract: We overview the current status and future perspectives of the QCD-based method of light-cone sum rules. The two main versions of these sum rules, using light-meson and $B$-meson distribution amplitudes are introduced and the most important applications of the method are discussed. We also outline open problems and future perspectives of this method.

Revisiting lifetimes of doubly charmed baryons
Abstract: We present updated predictions for lifetimes of doubly charmed baryons, within the heavy quark expansion, including available NLO $

Quark-hadron duality at work: lifetimes of bottom baryons
Abstract: In the 1990s, very low experimental values for the lifetime ratio $
τ (Λ _b)/τ (B_d)$ triggered a considerable amount of doubt in the applicability of the heavy quark expansion (HQE), which is based on the assumption of quark-hadron duality (QHD) for inclusive total decay rates. Next-to-next-to-leading order prediction for the photon-to-pion transition form factor
Abstract: We evaluate the next-to-next-to-leading order corrections to the hard-scattering amplitude of the photon-to-pion transition form factor. Our approach is based on the predictive power of the conformal operator product expansion, which is valid for a vanishing $
β $-function in the so-called conformal scheme. The Wilson--coefficients appearing in the non-forward kinematics are then entirely determin… ▽ MoreSubmitted 18 June, 2003; v1 submitted 23 December, 2002; originally announced December 2002.

Nonfactorizable effects in B -> J/psi K
Abstract: The method of QCD light-cone sum rules is used to calculate soft nonfactorizable contributions to the decay amplitude for B -> J/psi K. The result confirms expectations that in color-suppressed decays nonfactorizable corrections can be sizable.

BLM scale for the pion transition form factor
Abstract: We review the determination of the NLO Brodsky-Lepage-Mackenzie (BLM) renormalization scale for the pion transition form factor. We argue that the prediction for the pion transition form factor is independent of the factorization scale at every order in the strong coupling constant.

Exclusive Nonleptonic B Decays from QCD Light-Cone Sum Rules
Abstract: We are going to review recent advances in the theory of exclusive nonleptonic B decays. The emphasis is going to be on the factorization hypothesis and the role of nonfactorizable contributions for nonleptonic B decays. In particular, we will discuss in more detail calculations of nonfactorizable contributions in the QCD light-cone sum rule approach and their implications to the $B \to
π π $ and… ▽ MoreSubmitted 25 September, 2002; v1 submitted 23 September, 2002; originally announced September 2002.

A note on the factorization scale dependence of the PQCD predictions for exclusive processes

BLM scale for the pion transition form factor
Abstract: The NLO Brodsky-Lepage-Mackenzie (BLM) scale for the pion transition form factor has been determined. To achieve that, a consistent calculation up to nf-proportional NNLO contributions to both the hard-scattering amplitude and the perturbatively calculable part of the pion distribution amplitude has been performed. By combining and matching the results obtained for these two amplitudes, a proper… ▽ More

Exclusive and Inclusive Semileptonic Lambda_b-Decays
Abstract: In this talk we present theoretical evidence that the exclusive/inclusive ratio of semileptonic Lambda_b-decays exceeds that of semileptonic B-decays, where the experimental exclusive/inclusive ratio amounts to about 66%. We start from the observation that the spectator quark model provides a lower bound on the leading order Isgur-Wise function of the Lambda_b -> Lambda_c transition in terms of… ▽ More

Lifetime-difference pattern of heavy hadrons
Abstract: The preasymptotic effects originating from the four-quark operators are disentangled from the other contributions by considering appropriate combinations of inclusive decay rates. Under the assumption of the isospin and heavy-quark symmetry, a set of relations connecting charmed and beauty decays is obtained without invoking specific models. The results are compared with other approaches and con… ▽ More

Nucleon strangeness as the response to a strangeness-sensitive probe in a class of hadron models
Abstract: On top of its valence quarks, the full nucleon ground state may contain appreciable admixture of s-\bar{s} pairs already at small momentum transfers. This paper discusses strangeness in the mean-field type of nucleon models, and exemplifies this by explicit calculations in the MIT bag model enriched by the presence of instantons. We calculate the instanton contribution to the strangeness in th… ▽ More
