We investigate the dynamic phase transition in two-dimensional Ising models whose equilibrium characteristics are influenced by either anisotropic interactions or quenched defects. The presence of anisotropy reduces the dynamical critical temperature, leading to the expected result that the critical temperature approaches zero in the full-anisotropy limit. We show that a comprehensive understanding of the dynamic behavior of systems with quenched defects requires a generalized definition of the dynamic order parameter. By doing so, we demonstrate that the inclusion of quenched defects lowers the dynamic critical temperature as well, with a linear trend across the range of defect fractions considered. We also explore if and how it is possible to predict the dynamic behavior of specific magnetic systems with quenched randomness. Various geometric quantities, such as a defect potential index, the defect dipole moment, and the properties of the defect Delaunay triangulation, prove useful for this purpose.

The propagation of the effects connected with the occurrence of magnetization reversals in an amorphous ribbon of Fe$_{63}$B$_{64}$Si$_{8}$Ni$_{15}$ has been investigated using a method based on two pickup coils separated by a distance variable between 2 an 40 mm. The ratio $R$ between the voltage signals induced in the coils contains information on the location where the magnetization reversal took place. This information can be extracted by knowing the function $V(x)$ which represents the attenuation of a signal generated by a reversal that took place at a distance x from the coil. A mathematical model for extracting this function starting from the histogram of the experimentally measured values of $R$ is presented. The attenuation function obtained in this way is relatively independent on the distance between the coils, and this is in strong support of the correctness of the model adopted.

This Document contains a complete technical description of the system devoted to the upgrade of the STAR Linear Accelerator (STAR Linac). According to the Contract signed between Universita della Calabria (UniCal) and Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN) on May 7th, 2021, INFN is committed to install, test and commission the upgrade of the STAR Linac denominated STAR-HE-Linac (STAR High Energy Linac), hereafter STAR-HEL. The technical components as well as the installation / test procedures and the ancillary equipment involved in such an upgrade are the object of this Document, named Complete Detailed Design Report. A technical offer was submitted by INFN in the frame of its participation to the tender issued by UniCal, describing a possible energy upgrade of the STAR Linac, with an electron beam energy boosted from 65 MeV up to 150 MeV by means of Radiofrequency (RF) accelerating sections and power stations based on S-band technology (ie, 2856 MHz RF frequency). Following the Contract signature, INFN conceived and conceptually designed a technology change that offers several advantages both on performances and on operational reliability of STAR-HEL, based on adopting C-band technology (ie, 5712 MHz RF frequency) for accelerating sections and RF power stations. Such a technology change was illustrated in a dedicated document named "improvement option for STAR-2 HE-Linac", addressed to UniCal STAR Management Board and tender R.U.P. for approval on June 9th, 2021. INFN received a formal letter of approval on June 16th, 2021.

We consider 2D random Ising ferromagnetic models, where quenched disorder is represented either by random local magnetic fields (Random Field Ising Model) or by a random distribution of interaction couplings (Random Bond Ising Model). In both cases we first perform zero- and finite-temperature Monte-Carlo simulations to determine how the critical temperature depends on the disorder parameter. We then focus on the reversal transition triggered by an external field, and study the associated Barkhausen noise. Our main result is that the critical exponents characterizing the power-law associated with the Barkhausen noise exhibit a temperature dependence in line with existing experimental observations.
