GRB~230812B is a bright and relatively nearby ($z =0.36$) long gamma-ray burst (GRB) that has generated significant interest in the community and has thus been observed over the entire electromagnetic spectrum. We report over 80 observations in X-ray, ultraviolet, optical, infrared, and sub-millimeter bands from the GRANDMA (Global Rapid Advanced Network for Multi-messenger Addicts) network of observatories and from observational partners. Adding complementary data from the literature, we then derive essential physical parameters associated with the ejecta and external properties (i.e. the geometry and environment) of the GRB and compare with other analyses of this event. We spectroscopically confirm the presence of an associated supernova, SN2023pel, and we derive a photospheric expansion velocity of v $\sim$ 17$\times10^3$ km s$^{-1}$. We analyze the photometric data first using empirical fits of the flux and then with full Bayesian Inference. We again strongly establish the presence of a supernova in the data, with a maximum (pseudo-)bolometric luminosity of $5.75 \times 10^{42}$ erg/s, at $15.76^{+0.81}_{-1.21}$ days (in the observer frame) after the trigger, with a half-max time width of 22.0 days. We compare these values with those of SN1998bw, SN2006aj, and SN2013dx. Our best-fit model favours a very low density environment ($\log_{10}({n_{\rm ISM}/{\rm cm}^{-3}}) = -2.38^{+1.45}_{-1.60}$) and small values for the jet's core angle $θ_{\rm core} = 1.54^{+1.02}_{-0.81} \ \rm{deg}$ and viewing angle $θ_{\rm obs} = 0.76^{+1.29}_{-0.76} \ \rm{deg}$. GRB 230812B is thus one of the best observed afterglows with a distinctive supernova bump.

Abstract:
We carried out high-precision photometric observations of three eclipsing ultrashortperiod contact binaries (USPCBs). Theoretical models were fitted to the light-curves by means of the Wilson-Devinney code. The solutions suggest that the three targets have evolved to a contact phase. The photometric results are as follows: a) 1SWASP J030749.87-365201.7, q=0.439\pm0.003, f=0.0\pm3.6%; b) 1SWASP J21…

We carried out high-precision photometric observations of three eclipsing ultrashortperiod contact binaries (USPCBs). Theoretical models were fitted to the light-curves by means of the Wilson-Devinney code. The solutions suggest that the three targets have evolved to a contact phase. The photometric results are as follows: a) 1SWASP J030749.87-365201.7, q=0.439\pm0.003, f=0.0\pm3.6%; b) 1SWASP J213252.93-441822.6, q=0.560\pm0.003, f=14.2\pm1.9%; c) 1SWASP J200059.78+054408.9, q=0.436\pm0.008, f=58.4\pm1.8%. The light curves show O'Connell effects, which can be modeled by assumed cool spots. The cool spots models are strongly supported by the night-to-night variations in the I-band light curves of 1SWASP J030749.87-365201.7. For a comparative study, we collected the whole set of 28 well-studied USPCBs with P < 0.24 day. Thus, we found that most of them (17 of 28) are in shallow contact (i.e. fill-out factors f<20%). Only 4 USPCBs have deep fill-out factors (i.e. f>50%). Generally, contact binaries with deep fill-out factors are going to merge, but it is believed that USPCBs have just evolved to a contact phase. Hence, the deep USPCB 1SWASP J200059.78+054408.9 seems to be a contradiction, making it very interesting. Particularly, 1SWASP J030749.87-365201.7 is a zero contact binary within thermal equilibrium, implying that it should be a turn-off sample as predicted by the thermal relaxation oscillation (TRO) theory.

Djurašević. In the absence of spectroscopic observations, the effective temperatures of the brighter components are estimated from the color indices, and the mass ratios are determined with the q-search method. The analysis shows that all four systems are W UMa type binaries in shallow contact configurations, consisting of late-type main-sequence primaries and evolved secondaries with active surface regions (dark or bright spots) resulting from magnetic activity or ongoing transfer of thermal energy between the components. We compare the derived orbital and stellar parameters for these four variables with a large sample of previously analyzed W UMa stars and find that our results fit it well.

Two sets of photometric observations of the system AH Tauri have been analyzed using the latest version of the Wilson-Devinney code. The results show that AH Tauri may classified as A-type of W-UMa eclipsing binary. The mass ratio of q = 0.81, an over-contact degree of f = 0.095, and a slightly temperature difference between the two components have been obtained. The asymmetry of its light curve explained by the presence of a dark spot on the massive component. The physical, geometrical, and absolute parameters have been derived and compared with previous work.
