In astrophysics, the gravitational stability of a self-gravitating polytropic fluid sphere is an intriguing subject, especially when trying to comprehend the genesis and development of celestial bodies like planets and stars. This stability is the sphere's capacity to stay in balance in the face of disruptions. We utilize fractional calculus to explore self-gravitating, hydrostatic spheres governed by a polytropic equation of state ¶=Kρ^{1+1/n}. We focus on structures with polytropic indices ranging from 1 to 3 and consider relativistic and fractional parameters, denoted by σand α, respectively. The stability of these relativistic polytropes is evaluated using the critical point method, which is associated with the energetic principles developed in 1964 by Tooper. This approach enables us to pinpoint the critical mass and radius at which where polytropic spheres shift from stable to unstable states. The results highlight the critical relativistic parameter where the polytrope's mass peaks, signaling the onset of radial instability. For polytropic indices of 1, 1.5, 2, and 3 with a fractional parameter α, we observe stable relativistic polytropes for σvalues below the critical thresholds of σ= 0.42, 0.20, 0.10, and 0.0, respectively. Conversely, instability emerges as σsurpasses these critical values. Our comprehensive calculations reveal that the critical relativistic value (σ_{CR}) for the onset of instability tends to increase as the fractional parameter α decreases.

In a recent paper (see https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevD.108.095053), we have demonstrated that the 2023 PTA results, which hint at a stochastic gravitational wave (GW) background at nanohertz frequencies, point towards a promising model-building route for realizing $SO(10)$ Grand Unification with embedded inflation. The proposed supersymmetric scenario solves the doublet-triplet splitting without fine-tuning, accounts for charged fermion and neutrino masses, avoids conflicts with current proton decay bounds, and includes only representations no larger than the adjoint. It features multi-step breaking of $SO(10)$ to the Standard Model gauge symmetry, with inflation embedded such that metastable cosmic strings are produced at the end of inflation. This cosmic string network generates a stochastic GW background that can explain the PTA results. In this paper, we provide a detailed analysis of the singled out GUT model class, focusing on how the gauge coupling unification condition affects the scales of multi-step $SO(10)$ breaking and the preferred GW spectra. The lowest breaking scale, linked to inflation, the generation of right-handed neutrino masses for the seesaw mechanism, and metastable cosmic string production, coincides with the range suggested by the PTA results.

Under the assumption that the recent pulsar timing array evidence for a stochastic gravitational wave (GW) background at nanohertz frequencies is generated by metastable cosmic strings, we analyze the potential of present and future GW observatories for probing the change of particle degrees of freedom caused, e.g., by a supersymmetric (SUSY) extension of the Standard Model (SM). We find that signs of the characteristic doubling of degrees of freedom predicted by SUSY could be detected at Einstein Telescope and Cosmic Explorer even if the masses of the SUSY partner particles are as high as about $10^4$ TeV, far above the reach of any currently envisioned particle collider. We also discuss the detection prospects for the case that some entropy production, e.g. from a late decaying modulus field inducing a temporary matter domination phase in the evolution of the universe, somewhat dilutes the GW spectrum, delaying discovery of the stochastic GW background at LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA. In our analysis we focus on SUSY, but any theory beyond the SM predicting a significant increase of particle degrees of freedom could be probed this way.

We developed a tool that measures equivalent widths of various lines in low resolution optical spectra, and it was applied to stellar spectra obtained as part of SDSS-V and LAMOST programs. These lines, such as Li I which directly indicates stellar youth, or optical H I and Ca II which in emission indicate activity associated with stellar youth, are commonly seen in YSOs. We observe several notable differences in the properties of these lines between YSOs and the field stars. Using these data, we devise a set of criteria through which it is possible to confirm the youth of stars that have been observed by the ABYSS program, as well as to identify likely young stars that have serendipitously been observed by other programs. We examine the decrement of H lines seen in emission in CTTSs, and estimate the properties of the accretion stream that is responsible for the production of these lines. Finally, we examine the evolution of Li I as a function of age, and characterize the scatter in its abundance that appears to be intrinsic in young M dwarfs.

A multi-parameter analysis was conducted to evaluate the impact of meteorological parameters, night sky brightness and seismic hazard on proposed sites for the new optical/infrared Egyptian astronomical telescope. The ERA5 reanalysis data set is used to get the following meteorological parameters: Total cloud coverage fraction, precipitable water vapor, relative humidity, wind speed & direction and Air temperature. To estimate the aerosol optical depth we used the Modern-Era Retrospective analysis for Research and Applications version 2 (MERRA-2). Light pollution over the candidate sites was measured from Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Day Night Band (DNB). The seismic input in terms of maximum acceleration and response spectra were computed using a physics-based ground motion approach to assess the seismic hazards and consequently the designation of seismic resistant structure for the proposed sites to be able to assess the seismic hazards for the candidate sites. Of the seven nominated sites, two sites are found to have the best measurements and might be considered future sites for the new Egyptian Astronomical telescope. The first site is located in the south of the Sinai peninsula, while the second one is located in the Red Sea mountains region.

A series of pulsar timing arrays (PTAs) recently observed gravitational waves at the nanohertz frequencies. Motivated by this remarkable result, we present a novel class of Pati-Salam models that give rise to a network of metastable cosmic strings, offering a plausible explanation for the observed PTA data. Besides, we introduce a hybrid inflationary scenario to eliminate magnetic monopoles that arise during the spontaneous symmetry breaking of the Pati-Salam gauge group to the Standard Model. The resulting scalar spectral index is compatible with Planck data, and the tensor-to-scalar ratio is anticipated to be extremely small. Moreover, we incorporate a non-thermal leptogenesis to generate the required baryon asymmetry in our framework. Finally, the gravitational wave spectra generated by the metastable cosmic strings not only correspond to signals observed in recent PTAs, including NANOGrav, but are also within the exploration capacity of both present and future ground-based and space-based experiments.

We present the possibility that the seesaw mechanism and nonthermal leptogenesis can be {investigated} via primordial non-Gaussianities in the context of a majoron curvaton model. Originating as a massless Nambu-Goldstone boson from the spontaneous breaking of the global baryon ($B$) minus lepton ($L$) number symmetry at a scale $v_{B-L}$, majoron becomes massive when it couples to a new confining sector through anomaly. Acting as a curvaton, majoron produces the observed red-tilted curvature power spectrum without relying on any inflaton contribution, and its decay in the post-inflationary era gives rise to a nonthermal population of right-handed neutrinos that participate in leptogenesis. A distinctive feature of the mechanism is the generation of observable non-Gaussianity, {in the parameter space where the red-tilted power spectrum and sufficient baryon asymmetry are produced.} We {find} that the non-Gaussianity parameter $f_{\rm NL} \gtrsim \mathcal{O} (0.1)$ is produced for high-scale seesaw ($v_{B-L}$ at $\mathcal{O}(10^{14-17})$ GeV) and leptogenesis ($M_1 \gtrsim \mathcal{O}(10^6)$ GeV) where the latter represents the lightest right-handed neutrino mass. While the current bounds on local non-Gaussianity excludes some part of parameter space, the rest can be fully probed by future experiments like CMB-S4, LSST, and 21 cm tomography.

Gravitational production of massive particles due to cosmic expansion can be significant during the inflationary and reheating period of the Universe. If the particle also has non-gravitational interactions that do not significantly affect its production, numerous observational probes open up, including cosmological probes. In this work, we focus on the gravitational production of light vector bosons that couple feebly to the Standard Model (SM) particles. Due to the very feeble coupling, the light vector bosons never reach thermal equilibrium, and if the Hubble scale at the end of inflation is above $10^8$ GeV, the gravitational production can overwhelm the thermal production via the freeze-in mechanism by many orders of magnitude. As a result, much stronger constraints from the Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) can be placed on the lifetime and mass of the vector bosons compared to the scenario where only thermal production is considered. As an example, we study the sub-GeV scale dark photons, which couple to the SM only through kinetic mixing, and derive constraints on the mass and kinetic mixing parameter of the dark photon from the photodisintegration effects on the light element abundances relevant at the end of the BBN when the cosmic age was around $10^4$ s.

The scalar sector of this model is the minimal one, consisting of only two Higgs doublets. Following the construction of the full thermal potential for this model, we perform a scan of the entire parameter space and identify the region in which the cosmic phase transition associated with the left-right symmetry breaking gives gravitational wave signals detectable by a variety of planned space-based interferometers. Then we also discuss the relevant collider implications of this beyond the Standard Model scenario.

A main question in astrophysics and cosmology has been the severe stability of the astrophysical objects, whether a particular equilibrium configuration is stable. In this article, we study the relativistic self-gravitating, hydrostatic spheres with a polytropic equation of state , considering structures with the polytropic indices and illustrates the results for the relativistic parameters . We determined the critical relativistic parameter at which the mass of the polytrope has a maximum value and represents the first mode of radial instability. For n=1 (0.5)-2.5, stable relativistic polytropes occur for less than the critical values 0.42, 0.20, 0.10, and 0.04 respectively, while unstable relativistic polytropes are obtained when the relativistic parameter is greater than the same values. When n=3.0 and, energetically unstable solutions have occurred. The results of critical values obtained in this paper for different polytropic indices are in full agreement with those evaluated by several authors. Comparisons between analytical and numerical solutions of the given relativistic functions provide a maximum relative error of order.

We investigate the kinematics of high mass protostellar objects within the high mass star forming region IRAS 19410+2336. We performed high angular resolution observations of 6.7-GHz methanol and 22 GHz water masers using the MERLIN (Multi-Element Radio Linked Interferometer Network) and e-MERLIN interferometers. The 6.7-GHz methanol maser emission line was detected within the $\sim$ 16--27 km s$^{-1}$ velocity range with a peak flux density $\sim$50 Jy. The maser spots are spread over $\sim$1.3 arcsec on the sky, corresponding to $\sim$2800 au at a distance of 2.16 kpc. These are the first astrometric measurements at 6.7 GHz in IRAS 19410+2336. The 22-GHz water maser line was imaged in 2005 and 2019 (the latter with good astrometry). Its velocities range from 13 to $\sim$29 km s$^{-1}$. The peak flux density was found to be 18.7 Jy and 13.487 Jy in 2005, and 2019, respectively. The distribution of the water maser components is up to 165 mas, $\sim$350 au at 2.16 kpc. We find that the Eastern methanol masers most probably trace outflows from the region of millimetre source mm1. The water masers to the West lie in a disc (flared or interacting with outflow/infall) around another more evolved millimetre source (13-s). The maser distribution suggests that the disc lies at an angle of 60$^{\circ}$ or more to the plane of the sky and the observed line of sight velocities then suggest an enclosed mass between 44 M$_{\odot}$ and as little as 11 M$_{\odot}$ if the disc is edge-on. The Western methanol masers may be infalling.

The results of this study revealed emission in the 1665 MHz line with an estimated total intensity of $\sim 4$ Jy. We did not detect any emission from the 1667-MHz and 1720-MHz lines.
The full polarization mode of MERLIN enables us to investigate the magnetic field in the OH maser region. Our results show that IRAS 06056+2131 is a highly circularly polarized source. In this transition, a Zeeman pair is identified from which a magnetic strength of $\sim -1.5$ mG is inferred. The orientation of the linear polarization vectors suggests that the magnetic field lines at the location of the OH maser emission \textbf{might be} in agreement with the orientation of the outflow thought to be associated with this source. The star forming evolutionary status of the embedded proto-stellar object is discussed.

In this study, we present a spectroscopic analysis of the bright Be star kappa Dra. Two independent sets of radial velocity velocities (RV) measurements were obtained by direct measurement and using a line profile disentangling technique. Using a combination of the solutions found by the codes FOTEL and KOREL, we revisited the binary nature of kappa Dra and derived improved orbital elements. From the RVs of the Balmer lines and also from some strong metallic lines we found that all RVs variations are phase-locked with the orbital period. V/R variations were obtained for H_alpha, H_beta, H_gamma and some other photospheric lines and they are found to be phase-locked with the orbital motion. A moving absorption bump superimposed over the H_alpha and H_beta emission line profiles was detected. The orbital solutions for kappa Dra were derived assuming a circular orbit with a period 61.5549 day and K = 6.81 km/s . The question of the line profile variability was discussed. We attempted to search for absorption or emission lines of the unresolved secondary component, we failed to find them.

In this paper, we introduce a novel analytical solution to Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equation, which is ultimately a hydrostatic equilibrium equation derived from the general relativity in the framework of relativistic isothermal spheres. Application of the traditional power series expansions on solving TOV equation results in a limited physical range to the convergent power series solution. To improve the convergence radii of the obtained series solutions, a combination of the two techniques of Euler-Abel transformation and Pade approximation has done. The solutions are given in \exi-θand \exi-μphase planes taking into account the general relativistic effects σ= 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3. An Application to a neutron star has done. A Comparison between the results obtained by the suggested approach in the present paper and the numerical one indicates a good agreement with a maximum relative error of order 10-3, which establishes the validity and accuracy of the method. The procedure we have applied accelerated the power series solution with about ten times than of traditional one.

The algorithm is applied to Kowalsky's method for orbital parameter computation, and to Reed's method for the determination of the dynamical parallax and individual masses. The procedure is applied to A 1145 and ADS 15182.

In the present article, we study the properties of the condensed matter in white dwarfs using Newtonian and relativistic polytropic fluid sphere. Two polytropic indices (namely n=3 and n=1.5) are proposed to investigate the physical characteristics of the models. We solve the Lane-Emden equations numerically.. The results show that the relativistic effect is small in white dwarf stars.

Abstract:
αVir is a well known double-lined spectroscopic binary with a B-type for both components. In the present paper we have analyzed a total of 90 spectra obtained through 1992-2000. Spectral analysis are based on two spectral lines H(alpha) and HeI 6678 belong to H(alpha) region. Radial velocity analysis have suggested low eccentric orbit (e=0.002) at inclination (i=81.89+-2.34) and with 4d.01422 peri…

Spectral analysis are based on two spectral lines H(alpha) and HeI 6678 belong to H(alpha) region. Radial velocity analysis have suggested low eccentric orbit (e=0.002) at inclination (i=81.89+-2.34) and with 4d.01422 period, semi-amplitude k1=100 km/s, mass ratio q=0.49+-0.05 and mass function f(m) =0.547. Using KOREL program for spectrum disentangling we have been able to decompose the spectrum of the system to its primary and secondary components. Synthetic spectral analysis of both the individual and disentangled spectra has been performed and yielded effective temperatures Teff= 25000+-250 K, surface gravities log g=3.75+-0.25 and projected rotational velocities (v sin i= 180+-5 km/s) for the primary, while for the secondary they are Teff = 17000+-250 K, log g = 4.0+-0.25.

We studied both components of a slightly overlooked visual binary HR 1847 spectroscopically to determine its basic physical and orbital parameters. Basic stellar parameters were determined by comparing synthetic spectra to the observed echelle spectra, which cover both the optical and near-IR regions. New observations of this system used the Ondřejov and Rozhen 2-m telescopes and their coudé spectrographs. Radial velocities from individual spectra were measured and then analysed with the code {\FOTEL} to determine orbital parameters. The spectroscopic orbit of HR 1847A is presented for the first time. It is a single-lined spectroscopic binary with a B-type primary, a period of 719.79 days, and a highly eccentric orbit with e=0.7. We confirmed that HR 1847B is a Be star. Its Hαemission significantly decreased from 2003 to 2008. Both components have a spectral type B7-8 and luminosity class IV-V.

We present an analysis of new spectroscopic observations of the bright Be star kappa Dra obtained at the Ondrejov observatory during 1992 - 2003 and UBV photometric observations secured at several observatories. The fundamental stellar parameters have been obtained from a comparison with a grid of NLTE model atmospheres. The best fit was found for Teff=14000K, log g = 3.5, and v sin i = 170km/s. These values together with a Hipparcos parallax lead to a stellar mass M=4.8+-0.8 M_solar and radius R=6.4+-0.5 R_solar. Long-term variations of kappa Dra were analysed using measurements of equivalent widths, central intensities, peak intensities of emission lines and emission peak velocity differences for H-alpha, H-beta, H-gamma, H-delta, and some helium, silicon, and iron lines. It turned out that the previously reported period of 23 years in the variation of the emission strength is probably a cyclic, not a strictly periodic phenomenon. An attempt to find out a period from all available records of the H-beta emission strength led to a value of 8044+-167 days (22.0 years) but the phase plots show that each cycle has a different shape and length. For the moment, the nature and origin of the disk around kappa Dra still remains unknown. From the comparison of the electronic spectra obtained at different phases of the long-term cycle and synthetic spectra it appears that there are no detectable changes in the photospheric part of the Balmer lines related to variations in the Balmer emission strength which could be attributed to an extended photosphere corresponding to inner parts of the disk, optically thick in continuum.
